But isn't that why we morph and try to make improvements to figures? Sometimes I think people just need to turn morph dials more often.  ;)  I can certainly understand why we need a variety of figure types, like toon figures, realistic ones, creatures like Nursoda's, etc. Why we need three or four attractive realistic female figures that can't really share content, that continues to elude me.

I didn't say the "g" word.  ;)   It not working in someone's software of choice is a completely different issue, let's just talk about Antonia and Anastasia for example.

Both are human females, both have morphs, both work in Poser. Wouldn't it make much more sense for either the Antonia people to get behind Blackhearted in improving Anstasia more, or for Blackhearted to go to work on making a similar morph for Antonia? I don't understand why having two figures that serve the same purpose is better for the users. What DAZ did with you-know-who did at least solve that problem for users of that figure.

I don't quite understand why having a lot of figures is good for the users because it divides content. We saw this happen with Michael and David and with Stephanie Petite and V4. Perhaps having a lot of figures would create competition to make each figure better, but doesn't it benefit users in the end if most content creators can all basically get behind one popular figure? It's hard for someone to make high-quality content for multiple figures, and the more figures there are, the less likely that person's content will be made for the figure you want to use most.

I know that a contest would be fun, but why not look to the best Poser artists' work for the banners that anyone coming here would see? Ask Archangel_Gabriel, Isikol, RGUS, Prog, that guy who does the same burly man in wrinkled shirts better than anyone else ever could (sorry, lol) if their art could be used for the forum headers, in addition to having a contest where a couple of other artist's banners would be featured. Could it be worked out where one of those popular artists' banners would be seen on the forum's main page, but then the contest winners' would be seen as someone browses forum posts?

Some of the current headers are cute, but they don't really showcase what can or is being done with Poser.  Anyway, just a thought.

edit: of course I didn't leave any great artists out intentionally, just can't name them all offhand. Also, here's the NOSEPICK!

Yes, that is a cute banner and done very well. Now the one with Alice picking her nose...that one I could live without.  ;)

And I'll repeat myself again since you apparently didn't hear me the first time. It's unfamiliar, unituitive, clunky, and unstable FOR YOU. I and many others have had no problem learning and using it without documentation. Yes, I wish it had documentation, yes I wish people didn't have problems like what Precision talked about. But to say in general that it's unituitive, clunky, and unstable software is a lie and I will repeat myself as many times as necessary to make that clear.

It's certainly understandable that you'd remove it and I would not try to convince you otherwise. If something that I used caused all that trouble, I'd toss it out too. All I'm asking is that you instead say in the future that it's unstable for you.

My only issue was with the "not very well" part.  Some people like to say that because Genesis tries to do it all, it doesn't do anything well. You don't have to buy V5 or the Legacy V4/M4/David morphs for Genesis to be useful, all you really need are the Evolution head and body morph sets, which you'd have to for the equivalent of any other figure out there anyway).

The only thing Genesis doesn't do all that well right now is work in Poser. Anyway, thanks for clarifying what you meant.

LOL, uh yeah you'll forgive me if I have to politely disagree with that.

To the OP: Really, just try Studio and see if you like it. If not, stay with what you have.

You'd think so, but you end up wanting to just 'collect' stuff too...I see new things and think "ooh, maybe someday I could use that in a render..."   I've probably used about 5% of what I've bought in actual renders (which seems to be pretty common among us, lol).   ;)

I would say the first thing for you to do is to try Studio, work with it a little, and see if you like it. If you don't, stick with Poser.

Your Gen 4 Michael and David characters will have to be recreated for Genesis (unless you also buy GenX, that lets you use Gen 4 morphs with Genesis - I can't vouch for how well since I don't have it though).

I am in a slightly similar situation in that I had made a V4 character that I used often and wanted to recreate her with Genesis. I had to turn all the dials again to make the face and body shape I wanted, but it wasn't too hard and since Gen 4 textures work with Genesis, I was able to recreate her pretty well. Then my hard drive crashed last week and now I have to do it yet again, lol.   ;)

But anyway, the real key is going to be if you want to use Studio or not, that will determine whether you can use Genesis (and your Gen 4 stuff) or if you should stay with Poser and what you're familiar with.

Again though, the fights are not really over the programs themselves. The fights are always over what DAZ does in some form.

I used both Poser and Studio and enjoyed them both. I'd never say that Poser can't make art as well as Studio can. The software has never really been the issue, it's either personal issues or concerns about content support.

Digital, don't take much video myself, 7-Up, Honda, don't care, don't care, don't care, kittens, cats, both, brunette, no gamma.   :)
