Guitta was the very first to encourage me in the use of Vue. Her tips were invaluable. I am deeply saddened at this news. She is in my prayers and will always have my thanks for her fairness on this board and her many kindnesses. She is a lovely lady..

I have determined that this is indeed a memory leak. I have forwarded crash logs to E-ON. Hopefully they will respond. When Vue is loaded, it consumes a huge amount of memory as it runs. The crash logs are reporting such as well as the memory managers. Didn't we have this same problem in Vue 4 Pro?
Thread: Anyone notice this in Vue 5...slower renders? | Forum: Vue
Yes, the renders are slower, but that's because of the added features in the program I think. The results of the render are much better however. I know Vue 5 seems to eat memory by the ton! Guess I will have to add more than the 1 gig I have.

Buffer overruns are software coding errors. Here is an example of what I'm talking about. "Once discovered, a buffer overflow only can be fixed with a patch a rewrite of code. Security experts say it's a lot easier to fix the problem while software is being written." "The solution is to not introduce them in the first place," Levy said. "Make them choose programming languages that are less prone." Programmers also must be reminded of the importance of developing memory management techniques. One of the most popular languages, C, does not automatically offer such protections. Newer languages, such as Java, do. "Buffer overflows are fundamentally a failure of individual programmers to see that they have enough space to store data," said Shawn Hernan, a security expert at the government-funded Computer Emergency Response Team. Operating system vendors have made it a priority to search for such vulnerabilities. Software also needs to act like a bank teller who sees too many digits in the account number of a deposit slip, Bertnick said. "That kind of intelligence is what needs to be put into programs to prevent buffer overflow attacks," he said. "Unfortunately, it takes a little bit of time and energy on the part of software companies." ------------------------------------------------- I suggest you duplicate the error, if you can, and send to E-On and Microsoft. Installing SP2 may actually help you if it's a XP bug.... Hope that helps...

Thanks Ageil...! I have been playing with it and it really does not matter how complex the work is. In fact, loading a basic atmosphere and ground cover, then minimizing the desktop, will casue the same error (lack of memory). Now, if I don't minimize, i can complete and render the entire graphic. This can be done at the highest user settings. Sometimes it is necessary to minimize for other jobs I need to do. I sent this to e-on tech support but have not heard back from them. Some you may want to try this and see what happens on your system.
Thread: Upgrading from Vue 4 to Vue 5 PC | Forum: Vue
I certainly hope this is NOT a Windows XP with Sp2 problem. From what I've read, the software has installed fine on most Windows XP systems with these service packs installed. My system is almost identical to the original users first post. My order will not be in till next week, so I don't know if an install will cause a problem...yet. Service pack two is definate improvement for windows XP and is a major "FIX" for the windows operating system. If there is a problem with it and Vue 5, E-on should be working on a fix. Microsoft is certainly not going to rewrite their operating system just so VUE can run. Anyone running Windows XP with SP2 without these problems?
Thread: How do you check on an order? | Forum: Vue
Thanks! I tried the above and received a reply that the order is fine and shipment should be in the next few days. Guess just a LOT of shipments at the present time. Thanks for all the help!
Thread: How do you check on an order? | Forum: Vue
I have also sent e-mails with no reply or acknowledgement.I did not have these problems with the purchase of Vue 3 or 4. My order has sat at "being reviewed" since it was placed almost a WEEK ago. I gave done all in my power to buy this product. No phone numbers to get it straight whoever is at fault. I have never seen a software company you cannot contact to resolve and order issue.

Thread: Out of curiousity, I have a question | Forum: Vue
I have deleted a posted picture, not due to any comments, but the fact that I noticed some little thing I did not note prior to uploading. It could be a bad spot, a model not sitting correctly or the atmosphere is not right. Any comments I receive, I use to make the next work a little better (I hope). Critisism is useful and I don't mind it in the least...I find most users of the Gallery to be fair and very helpfull.

Thread: I'm Confused..... | Forum: Vue
While I agree with you 100%, and I know that most people don't vote.. maybe they should think about it. That would help don't you think? I'm not trying to make this an issue. Just that a lot of very good works go up that are entitled to a vote... if they have allowed voting to be set. So all I'm saying is if everyone that liked a picture, set up for a vote, actually voted, the sheer number should stop any so called popularity contest. What I consider good, may not be considered good by others. But, there are many good works and artists here that deserve credit. All I'm suggesting is take the time to vote if a vote is allowed and you like the work displayed.
That said, I do appreciate your clearing this up for me in regards to ranking, comments and votes. Thanks!

Thread: I'm Confused..... | Forum: Vue
Thanks .. I usually VOTE for an image I like, but assumed the votes were rankings. Now I know different. Why would not the "votes" show as well? I as sure it is confusing to many to see (for example) a picture with 20 rankings and 100 viewings not to have a single vote, while others with no rankings and no comments make it into the Vue Hot 20 with no rankings and no comments. I don't care to see "who voted", just the number of votes. Seems it would fair to all who post in the Vue Gallery to see how many actual votes were cast for their works. If each picture can track comments and rankings, why can't it track votes as well? Not the names of voters, just the actual votes. Or is this a secret or something?

Lol.. prehaps. But, I am not a webmaster. Also, is this site in French, German or English? If its english, resources is the proper spelling.. No big deal.. They can spell it anyway they wish. The world won't end tommorrow if its left as "ressources"
