Just my opinion here. But why do you think Windows 10 is free and you still have to pay for Windows 7?

Windows 10 contains a fair amount of spyware that sends info about you back to MicroSoft.

If you are on 7 and it's working for you, I do not recommend an upgrade unless there is a feature in 10 you really need or must have. But then, I would still add "O&O Shutup" to kill the spying and "Classic Shell" to give me a familiar interface. Still not as good as 7, though.

I'm pretty sure Window 7 sent more then enough info back to MS right now :D Why I want to upgrade? Don't want to run into the same problem as XP. I've got 2 laptops still running, that are used by some members in my household, that use XP. They came with XP and after all these years, the laptops still work fine. You can't really use them for everything anymore though. Secondly gaming. We've set up a network for gaming and if one of the machines in it goes Windows 10, they all go.

Not talking about the expressions or pose or such at all :D Just the figures in general. If I'm honest, most of them make me feel like I'm looking to a Poser 4 render engine image, that's what they remind me off. With Firefly some of the figures were close to very realistic, but most of these renders the figures look like plastic dolls again. Imo, a step back, not forward.

Thanks for all these renders really helps one to make his mind. One thing I've noticed, while most props and such look really convincing, the majority of figures do not at all. It's like everyone is rendering a bit fake looking mannequins in a realistic enviroment, it's kind of surreal.

I'm familiar with Bentley systems, due to having a mechanical engineer background., mainly form their product MicroStation. If I'm very honest, I do not think that for us, hobby users this is a good move at all. For high end / pro users yes, this may turn out to be a good move, but for the rest, I seriously doubt it. Now we all know that the ladt few years, E-On was already focussing more and more on the high end users, so this doesn't come as a surprise at all. E-On has clearly shown that they prefer a different user base then home/hobby users, cutting back on that end slowly, but surely. This is just the next step up.

This move can go 2 ways in time to come. Either Bentley will swallow up the expertise, implementing it in their own software and ending the Vue line completly. Or they will keep Vue, but since their focus is on pro users, they will end the Vue Artist and Enthusiast line, only keeping the pro line. I'm going for the second one.

Seems like sticking to Complete is the best idea. I don't see how buying Infinite is justified just for s little rendering speed increase. I had a feeling the increase wouldn't be so much at all and your figures proof that. I've been toying with getting infinite for a while also, but seen enough now to let that idea go :D

Don't bother with modules, just buy Esprit. In the end modules are more expensive to upgrade then a full version. As for Vue 11, you cannot buy that anymore, unless you find someone selling his/her license. The E-On store only has Vue 2015. Vue Esprit would suit your needs just fine.

Hope you really will enforce this TOS. So far, you've protected pretty much every religion, except when the Christian faith is insulted you look the other way and pretend nothing is going on.

Sorry, just back from vacation, been away a couple of weeks, other wise I would have answered your question. The main difference is that Vue can now use 8 pure cores from your new machine, instead of the 4 pures cores with 8 threads on your old machine. 8 pure cores will always render a lot faster then 4 cores with 8 threads.

The real question is if Vue Infinite will really be faster then what you have now. To test this, you can always download Vue 2015 PLE. That basically is Vue 2015 Infinite, with some restrictions, but not when it comes to cores. It allows you to render the same test scenes in Infinite. That way you can compare the times and see if Infinite is really much faster and worthwhile buying..... or not.

I would be curious to the see the results of your PLE tests.

I've looked at the feature list a few times now. Wondering if I can justify buying it. No, I can't, I don't see anything that is worth the upgrade price asked. The majority of improvements have been made in the rendering department, otherwise it is kind of thin. There are few interesting new features. From what I understand if you don't use TPF or Photometric, the rendering improvement is quite minimal, it's by far not 20%. Maybe next year if they release something useful. I'm not playing lot's of money for a little more render speed and NPR rendering that has failed to impress me so far and I'll most likely never use. I do find the new release kind of disappointing, I expected way more, especially with the delay.

They did a survey a while back with people requesting what they would want to see in Vue and I don't see much of that back at all in this release. Shame, there were some cool suggestions there.

Same here, I'm keeping my money. So far I've heard very mixed reports from the Infinite users. Some long time users are so dissapointed that they stated this will be their last version of Vue. I'm interested in faster rendering as well, but we're not even sure if that will be in the Artist line and I'm sure not paying the absurdly high update price for that. Now if E-On does a super intro sale where I can get Complete for a few dollars, I would go for it. But we all know that's not going to happen, E-On loves to overcharge their users big time.

But the packaging looks really nice :)
