If I do manage to get some commercial work and manage to get my ageing pc upgraded, I think I might consider the upgrade more seriously. Amapi Designer 7 keeps calling me! (But it still says my name wrong! :) )

Thanks for the help. I will try and post pics of what I mean (am in a bit of a busy move at the moment and my Gfx pc is not connected to the net)

That Dof is a cool feature! Nice render Mark! Are the controls for the new Dof diffent? Looking at Vizualds, Carrara 4 seems to have a bit more then Eovia let on. Seems like it might be a good upgrade.

The bright spots from lights. The ones that are actually controlled by the two highlight settings in the material editor.
What I meant to say (what I wrote before is a bit unclear) is when I try to get larger specular highlights they often end up being too bright. Getting them to spread out without making them excesively bright does not seem to be possible. Does anyone have any solutions?
Thanks

Yeah Wings3D it quite cool. I really like it. I have just got Amapi 6 with this months issue of 3D World Magazine and by exchanging data via the obj format both programs work quite well together. I think that using Amapi Designer 7 with Wings would be an awesome combination.

Thanks! :) Quite a fun challenge. Rendered with one spot light pointing into the Sponza top and and a light blue skylight if anyone wanted to know.

Thanks for the info. I went with the obj file cause I thought that would be the best. I am not sure how far I will go with this though my puny Athlon 850 almost keels over when I crank up the render setting with this model! I need a new cpu baaaaaad.

I think once you have textures turned on you can get away with much lower render setings because they mask the ashes quite will. I was wondering how to import the model without the need to crease all of the edges? Also how do you apply textures to this model in Carrara? It looks like it will be an absolute nightmare but you seem to have managed it well..

Shonner which file format are you trying to save in? I have some problems with .tif. If I want Alphas I use .psd. If you are doing a long render it also may be better to render to a file instead of saving after the render.
