I might not be able to help, but I may have the same problem:) What happens when you change the colour of the lights? Do the black patches change colour? I presume each segment of the worm consists of one group and one material only? Berge

Wow! And I thought maybe I had just done something stupid. I was kinda hoping for a simple solution. Perhaps I should acknowledge that I'm out of my depth now and go back to the reliable old pencil crayons :) Seriously, guys, thanks for the help. At least now I know that I will have to try some work-arounds. I'll try some of your suggestions. Berge

Happy New day/week/month/year/decade/century/millenium! It is now 5:30 pm in South Africa. Six and a half hours before my computer crashes :)

What a load of... politics! Happily it's all over my head. Do I need to be concerned? Are there words, phrases or references that I should avoid on this site? If not, I think I'll just continue to ignore it all and hope all these talented people get reconciled soon. It would be a tragedy to everyone who uses any of these forums to learn, teach and share ideas if anyone should lose this "fight".

I'm starting to suspect that my reluctance to let her go into the wild world is because I've become a bit possessive :) PhilC All thanks to your tutorial. I'll send you the bill for my obsessive-compulsive treatment and the lawsuits for domestic neglect :) Berge

Having been rapped over the knuckles once, I feel a bit insecure risking it again :) I'm not sure if this will help, but try opening the obj geometry file in a text editor. Find the body part that's causing the problem. Look for the materials used. It may be that when you merged the parts, no material was allocated to one of the merged parts. If so, type in the usemtl... command, save, delete rsr's and try opening again. Good luck Berge

Go to http://home.cnet.com. From there go to Free Downloads and you should find something under Multimedia and Design or under Utilities. I haven't had the time to browse around yet, but as soon as I can, I'll be more specific. Berge

Use the shift key when you select the second part :) Both items will be highlighted and the merge objects button will come on. Berge

Thanx, I'm really encouraged. I also find that I'm still learning so much about Poser 3 that it will be quite a while before it gets stale. However, the idea of using transparecy maps, and seeing the great models (especially the hair) that are being posted makes me quite envious. But, alas, this is only a hobby and if it gets any more interresting I might not pitch at work again :) Berge

Mine seem to work in WIN95 and 98, but I will never stop being nervous about Windows:) There seem to be a few programs for creating your own animated screensavers on the CNET free downloads page. I'm using Create Screen Savers Quick and Easy, a cheap little ap from Individual software. Very basic, but works well. I found that a series of short clips set around a central theme and played at random creates an interesting effect. Like a ball being thrown to a catcher - sometimes catches it, sometimes misses, hits him on the head, ball explodes, etc. Poser is great for setting up these kind of scenes.

Nice work. Looks like I'm going to have to upgrade to Poser 4 soon. I'm missing out on all the good stuff. :) Berge
Thread: WIP, and a couple of questions | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Great stuff! As for combining parts... I'm probably speaking out of turn (shoot me down - I have't got Poser 4 yet) but I would try merging them in Compose and then assigning different materials to the head and the helmet in the geometry file. (Don't forget to rename the merged part back to head):) Berge

Thanx Gerry I want to finish a few more morphs and tidy up a bit. I'll let you know when and where I let her loose on the world :) Just a thought, is there a site where one can post or upload Poser screensavers? I did a very interesting one in Poser 2 still, it turned your screen into a fishbowl, and Poser figures would come swimming by at random. I'd like to update that some time. Berge

Wyrwulf I just use a little program called "Screensavers Quick and Easy". It works best with AVI files, which take up a lot of space, so you have to play around with colours, resolution and number of frames to be practical. But I'm sure there are some free downloads at C-Net. Poser has just crashed, so I'll have to reload everything :( Maybe Marge caused my PC to overheat again :)

Gerry By the time I'm finished with Marge, everyone else will probably be working with Poser 5. Besides, I don't have my own site. But if there's still a demand for Poser3 figures, I'd be happy to send the obj and cr2 files somewhere where they can be downloaded.
