Lali is a Hip add on for V4 and Project Evolution is a stand alone figure. Those 2 IMHO would be your best options for what you want.

I use booleans in zbrush, but we got tools in ZB that clean it up really nice. Before i shunned booleans as much as possible since it was a PITA to clean up.

The first I would do is to see if you can do a Restore of windows. Could be that it got an update that you need to revert to have it working again.

The lack of good skin shaders for superfly/cycles is mainly because most people more or less was stubborn enough to keep using the old ways and the poserSurface root node even though we had cycles nodes. Now with the new cycles we get most of the nodes we need to start do better skin shaders but peope are still walking in the dark most of the times with that since they've never done it before.

I highly doubt it's the Win 7 OS that is at fault here.

@patlane. Depending on when you downloaded those files the only thing i know that changed is the materials on the HW files. In other word you should be good to go anyway with what you have with some minor tweaks with the normal map settings on those.
