donkeyoaty,
I'm sorry that I offended you. I didn't mean to insult your intelligence. From your name I assumed you were a native anglophone, but in any case, you know more languages than I. I hope your arm recovers soon. As for the whole Mac-PC debate, let's just agree to disagree. People have been predicting the doom of the Macintosh for years, but it's still doing well in its small share of the overall PC market. Only time will tell whether Apple survives, but I'm optimistic. I like your artwork, too!
Peace,
greenbd

That's not an option, my verbally challenged friend. I've loved Macs for 13 years, and am not about to change. Besides, once the 3D posing software catches up with Mac OS X, it'll be much better.

Well, pushing the RAM allocation up to 850MB seems to have fixed it. Gosh, it's nice to get those bump maps rendered! The dragon looks so much better with them. Thanks for your comments.

Thread: Poser 5 & MAC OS | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I think we'll probably see Mac versions of both Poser 5 and DAZ Studio Base by autumn. CuriousLabs announced that they do have a Mac version of P5 up and running, but it isn't quite ready for public release. Since DAZ wants a million people to download Studio by year's end, I imagine it'll arrive at least a few months before 2004 begins. It wouldn't surprise me if DAZ releases the Studio beta for the Mac later than the Wintel version (since we had to wait a bit for DialCleaner), but it would surprise me if the delay between the Mac and PC releases of Studio takes as long as the delay between the Mac and PC versions of P5. This modularity thing with Studio has some great potential, especially since DAZ wants to keep the pricing competitive when the add-ons arrive. Even if the Mac version of P5 gets here first, it appears likely that DAZ Studio will be faster, better, and cheaper--even with the charges for posing, animation, etc. And of course, the free OpenGL, OS X-native beta will render much more efficiently than P4 presently does in Classic. My predictions (not based on inside knowledge!)-- - Mac P5: April or May - DAZ Studio beta (PC): August - DAZ Studio beta (OSX): August or September

I believe you're referring to the one from PoserStyle. It includes the room itself plus tons of artist, model, and teacher poses (both full and partial), light settings, position poses, and props (benches, model's stand and boxes, table, charcoal, drawings on walls, etc.).When you subscribe to PoserStyle (still only $30, I think), you get that plus a tremendous number of character textures, historic and sci-fi clothing sets, clothing textures, character morphs, other environments, pose construction sets, and interesting props, among other things.
They've been putting out an average of more than one new product per week since last April, and you get all of it when you subscribe, plus whatever they release in the next six months. Items can't be bought separately, but the subscription price is well worth it.
PoserStyle's web host has been giving them some trouble lately, but they're almost back to normal now. And their customer support is phenomenal--right up there with DAZ's. PoserStyle is unquestionably one of the best deals out there.

I've also seen Poser figures used a lot in infographics for magazines like Time and Men's Health, and in an illustration in a recent Reader's Digest. That's certainly professional work, though with different artistic goals. When Poser first came out, it was primarily intended as a layout or reference tool. Now it's capable of much, much more, but you still need talent and effort to make Good Art.

Does it require the Pro Pack to run? Can't seem to find a PythonScripts folder in my P4 Runtime.

Poser 4 runs pretty well in Classic mode with OS X, but there are a few problems I've noticed:

The Millennium figures have much better joints. The link is to the picture at DAZ's Victoria 1.0 page, showing Vicky's improvements over P4. Victoria 3.0 is another step up--not only do her denser mesh and more advanced joint setup make her move better to begin with, but she has joint-controlled morphs built in for added realism.Thread: Ouch !!
