The raytracer can do only mesh level displacements, not micropolygons. I see. Is this a bug or a feature?

Thread: What are your Pet Hates about Poser/Poser products? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My pet hate on poser is the missing glow effect. Vue d'Esprit has such a super-duper cool glow, and I know Firefly can do post render effects - it can do toon outlines. So why not glow? >3. Inverse kinematics always being on by default Yes, that can be a pain. I am starting to completely delete IK chains from some figures. >4. The crap Library system. God I hate scrolling In P6 the palette can be expanded as large as you want. This is at least an improvement to the situation before. But BACKSPACE to go one level up would be very convenient. (But it's true, it can be very hard to find something. So I use the Windows search a lot.) >5. Products which put things in the wrong folders. I always expand products into a temp folder and place the stuff manually. First, I want to know what is in the libraries, and second, after opening it within Poser I remove these rsr files. Also, some freestuff only consists of an obj file. You have to handle this manually, anyway. And the poor UNDO ... well, I got used to it.
Thread: Grouping Tool | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You must use the gouping tool in the setup room.
You can select polygons from the backside together with the ones from the front if you change the document display style to wireframe. That makes it a lot easier.
The bones have two names, an internal and one for display (or whatever). I always take the same name for both of them, like rshin, lshin, rfoot, lfoot etc. I think, uppercase and lowercase are being distinguished. So, if you call your bone hip, call the polygongroup hip rather than Hip or HIP. (I am not sure about this, but doing it this way can't hurt.)
After you have set up all bones select the grouping tool from the setup room. Maybe all names of the bones already exist as (empty) groups. If not, start with the first one, mabe the hip. (Regularly, it happens to me that all of the other new groups appear by themself once I created the first one).
Now, you can simply add all polygons from the figure into the hip. Then selct the next one, let's say abdomen. Select the abdomen-polys. These are automatically removed from the hip. Doing this, go from one part to the next.
You will have to do this 10 times until the result fits (expect you are much smarter than I am, but really - it takes a LOT of practice and patience).
Thread: OT: How do you pronounce your username? hehe | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
BTW I thought I made the name Daio up, not knowing there it was actually a MAN's name in Japan ( I'm female and I have no idea how they pronounce Daio in Japan).
Daioh means great king in japanese. (I don't know if they really use this as a name, except in animes).
And about my username: it comes from a minor character in an anime called El Hazard. Animes are japanese but I don't know if Kyraia had the same name in the original. I only know the german version.
In German the pronunciation is very easy. The "y" is generally pronounced as " (u-Umlaut), and to speak with Francoise (sorry, there is no cedille on my keyboard :-)
but I know no English speaking person who is able to pronounce this correctly - although it is very easy once you realize that the pronounciation has nothing to do with the "u" where it comes from, but is quite close to "i" (or "ee" like in cheese).
So, the pronunciation is something like Krah-yah.
Kyraia actually is a female character, but in reality I am ... an alien
Thread: Has this ever happened to you with MAT/INJ poses? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I remember strange things like these happend to me, too. Some years ago (with Poser 5) I had a character with dynamic hair. Sometimes, when I just loaded her, the hair went away - but only in the preview. The render was ok. I asked the CL tech support but couldn't get much help (or no help at all with this special case). Then, just recently with Poser 6, I used the DAZ Tawhak dinosaur with its saddle. To match another figure I scaled it a little. Then, when I twisted the stirrup it moved up and down wildly, but returned to its position after a short time. So, oddities like these keep happening ...

Thread: Delete mouth, nose and eyes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you want to have a face without nose and mouth you have to edit / alter the geometry. You need an external modeller (like Wings3D) for that. Of course, with a different geometry, no morph will work any more. Or maybe you replace the head for a prop which looks like a head but without eyes, nose and mouth. Once you have such a prop, this would be the easiest way, I think.

You can extend ears almost as long as you want with magents. Like I did for this one:

Thread: V3 & S3 Thigh Buldge issues - Need help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You can change the behaviour of a joint with the joint editor. I haven't been using it for some time but I remember you can set up almost everything including buldge.
Are you bending the buttocks as well as the thigh?
Of course, trying this would be a lot easier then re-editing the joints - if it helps.
Thread: Nasty Bug When Exporting as Image | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is a combination of a Poser buglet and a Windows stupidity.
Unfortunately, I have a german Windows so I don't know the exact names they use in english, but try this:
Open Explorer -> Extras -> Folder Options -> View -> don't show known extensions. Uncheck this for all folders of your system (this requires just one or two mouseclicks, depending on your other settings). Poser will then show you the filenamen with extensions.
Your filenames probably is "Untitled.jpg". Make it "Untitled", then you can save it in any format you want.
(And leave the display of the extensions on, since they are crucial for Windows and every user should know as much as possible about what his OS is doing.)
Thread: How to get rid of unused morhps | Forum: Poser Technical
Thank you, KenG.
I've tried, but with a cr2-file of 50 MByte this is very tiresome :-(
I also tried Morph Manager, but after removing many morphs the file got even bigger rather than smaller.
Is ist possible to do this with Python? Maybe it would be interesting to learn it.
