If you google "background transparency cycles" you find it was introduced in 2014 and is already included in Poser 11. Are they adding it again ?

Apparently there is a new physically-based path-tracing render engine called Superfly, that can render far better than the old one (firefly ?), and much faster, as long as you spend several thousand dollars on a new computer. In other news, there is a revolutionary new car that has been developed that has the added benefit of a device called 'wheels'. These have been placed at each corner for added stability. This device when fitted greatly improves forward motion, and enables the user greater control of the vehicle by means of a process the manufacturer calls 'steering'.

There is a difference between Meteorological fall and Astronomical fall. Meteorological fall is September, October and November. December is winter. Interestingly, by the first week in December the sun sets later.

Good stuff! Were the hair shaders taking too long to render?

I've been working on this for a while. Just Superfly. Sorry didnt use Ghostships hair mats. Got bored and wanted to publish. V4 model.
No just takes me a while to set up using Snarly script. I'm spending all my time improving the morph. I'm never satisfied. Of course I only have to do it once, so I'm being lazy.

I was a Lux render guy for a while. When Poser made a song and dance about introducing Superfly, I was like so what - already have a PBR render engine. However it was a pain to set things up in Reality and the results were hit and miss. It soon became apparent how easy it was to render in Superfly because the Poser guys had done a great job in changing the Firefly shaders to Superfly. The default for me is Superfly and I haven't used the Firefly engine in years. I was using the CPU for rendering because the graphics card wasn't supported. I bought a basic 1060 graphics card for my old computer and I am happy with the GPU rendering.
Now I know that some of you love to tinker, but I think the vast majority just want to render a reasonable picture as easily as possible. That means automating the boring stuff as much as possible.
What Poser needs to be good at is 'posing'. The ability to quickly set up scenes and move characters. And for the future, lets dream. I want to put a character next to a seat and say "sit". Character sits and interacts with object and bottom compresses automatically. "hold cup". Fingers do not intersect handle. "smile" The program takes into account the skull, teeth and muscle structure of that particular model. Although this is a dream at the moment, we know that this is going to be a reality at some time in the not too distant future. If we are going to have cars that not only can navigate the city without human intervention but also recognise a human talking into a cell phone as a dangerous object, all this is possible. I can dream.

An on line dating company did a study to show that men have a very high degree of agreement on what they consider attractive. If I dont think a woman is attractive, I can be pretty sure most other men will share my opinion. That's what the studies show. Google is your friend.
The studies you reference are extremely limited and flawed.
Years back, there were a couple of much-hyped studies that found that there was a universal ideal of beauty, that men found attractive. In particular, it found a particular ratio of bust to waist to hips was preferred over decades, even though the weight of the ideal woman changed drastically.
But when you looked closer, there were serious issues. One study used Playboy centerfolds. The other asked male American college students to pick the most attractive figure. Both Playbay readers and US college students tend to be white males, better off than average. This sample was not even typical of the U.S., let alone the world.
Further studies found that different ethnic groups and different countries do in fact have differing standards of beauty.
Apparently, your ideal is northern European. Which is fine...but do you really believe that men in Asia and Africa are sadly settling for ugly women, since Ulrikas are few and far between there? Or could it be that people in other countries look different precisely because the standards of beauty differ there?
See here for a concrete example of how beauty standards differ. It's one woman, Photoshopped to be beautiful in 18 different countries.
Victoria 4 is not particularly attractive out of the box. What made her popular was the huge amount of support she had, which made it possible to make her look the way individual users wanted her to look.
On line dating websites like OK Cupid have enormous data sets for their research. We are talking many tens of thousands. They know that the photo is the only metric for whether you pick someone, personality is worthless, and they know exactly who has been picked, and by how many. The members also include score ratings for each of the contacts, so we get a very precise idea what constitutes a 4 or a 7. They can even measure the outliers who do not have a high degree of correlation on observed attraction and suggest why that is. They are using normal people. They can take into account the variables such as age and race and measure how that affects their attractiveness to their own race and to other races.
So yes we also know how attractive people are to their own race, and also to how attractive they are to other races. Hint - If you are a man don't be asian. There isn't really any doubt. There is a VERY high correlation of agreement as to what people consider attractive, and we know what that is.
I suggest you do more research.
As far as V4 is concerned, she was by far the best rigged character at that time and she looked more human than V3 .It didn't take long for people to move to V4 and begin morphing her. If you look at default Genesis 8 and V4, they are very close with Genesis 8 a little more natural. The closer the default shape is to either of these 2 the easier to create morphs. That is a fact, and probably why so few people attempt to morph La Femme at all. At the end of the day, she is a piece of clay, so it is possible to get reasonable results, and indeed that is what I'm working on.

This is a recent picture created by Rokket. I think it's cute. Deecey thinks it cute. It's a nice figure.
It's La Femme. Admittedly a heavily morphed one. There is no excuse for rendering a default La Femme. Please spend some effort.

Bed time, I hope the bitching and fighting will be over by tomorrow morning. You can all be very proud of yourselves.
I was here for a very long time as Vilters; left a couple of years to come back around 2015 I believe. Nothing changed. It is still the same. If you like genesis so much? What the hell are you doing here? This is the POSER forum. The bitch has her own app for Gods sake. Go and scramble some vertex over there. Dammed, you guys get me really upset.
Tony, what extreme hypocrisy from you. Were you not the one criticized by Deecey and Nerd for attacking La Femme's structure ?

The appearance of users from that other place and the strength of their attacks seems to be directly proportional to the perceived severity of the threat they see from Poser at the moment. I believe, and I will forever, that this is sanctioned by the other place as part of its business model. Just like Microsoft.
Oh I can't buy into this conspiracy stuff. Daz may be right to fear competition, but at the moment that will not be Poser. As far as I can see on this thread, everyone is wishing Poser all success in the future. I have been accused of being an enemy from the other side, despite the fact I don't use Daz or have ever used Genesis. I just think there are those who have passionate opinions on what they consider good and bad areas of the program and what needs the most TLC for it to be successful.
You should venture into the corporate environment a little more. And, I don't think referring to a figure as having fallen out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down as....what was it ....wishing Poser all success...really? Whether or not the slur was directed at Poser it reflects on it.
Then I think you have missed the point entirely. I agree 100% with Erogenesis, one of Posers best artists. La Femme is not realistic. It looks vaguely human. Anyone who renders the figure in its default state (she can look better with effort) does Poser an extreme disservice. Amateur-land. The same would apply to V4, but nobody renders V4 in its default state. Just take a look at the marketing page now where you see La Femme alongside G8 and V4. Its a Horror show.

All I said was that Poser needed a decent figure as a base, and everyone descended on me with their ? opinions. People need to be able to share ideas and give input in this thread without having to feel defensive about those ideas.
You don't get to go "THIS THING YOU LOVE IS UGLY AND THAT'S A PROVEN FACT" and then complain that people argue with you about it. That's not how adulting works.
Completely disagree. Edsels were the cars of the future – an expectation they failed to meet. After being unveiled to the public, they were considered to be unattractive, overpriced, and overhyped. They failed. While beauty is in the eye of the beholder there is never the less a normal distribution curve where you can see what most people agree upon. Yes there are outliers.
An on line dating company did a study to show that men have a very high degree of agreement on what they consider attractive. If I dont think a woman is attractive, I can be pretty sure most other men will share my opinion. That's what the studies show. Google is your friend. There is a video online somewhere that shows a speed dating experiment where the men would go to the next table meeting one woman at a time. No conversation between them was allowed. Each individual recorded how attractive they thought their opposite was by means of a dial under the table. Once that round was complete, they repeated everything, but this time the couples would be able to converse normally. Now the power of personality was in play. The final results showed that the second round was a waste of time because the individuals had all based their judgments on looks alone. The men were attracted to the prettier women and the women were attracted to the taller men. The SAME men.
Although I didn't use the term 'absolute fact' and you could say it was my opinion, I can just point to science and say I'm almost certainly correct. It's in the genes. As far as love is concerned, well you can love dogs can't you.
But if you want more evidence, then consider how few want to render the figure. Go on DeviantArt and do a search for 'La Femme'. Me and one or two others. Says it all really. I understand there can be emotional issues involved and I stated I was going to receive push back. Don't care. My opinion is worth sharing.
