Thread: Creating filled effect... | Forum: Bryce
Planes are infinite, So when their used for water or clouds they go though other objects and go on for infinity. To concentrate a liquid like in a glass of water, use an object for the water like a cylinder in the class. This can be tricky when it comes to complicated shaped objects like a curved wine glass. Sometimes when I know I'll be putting liquid in the object, I'll create the liquid in the modeling program as I create the glass.

No obp converters that I know of. And as far as I know Bryce is the only app that supports it's file type of obp.

Thread: Help!! | Forum: Bryce
There are 2 ways to import into Bryce, one involves importing foreign meshes ( obj, 3DS, dfx, wrl, ect..) These are imported using the File/import object command. The other way to import involves importing local files obp ( Bryce's file type ) They are imported by opening the object library on the create palette. And using the import option at the bottom of the library. More than likely the objects on the Bryce disk are local obp objects and need to be imported through the object library.
Thread: Can someone help this person? | Forum: Bryce
Bryce is not a modeling app. Although it does have some modeling ability, B5 has ( metaballs, Terrain Editor, Tree Lab, Boolean render effects ) Bryce is designed to render out scenes, particularly landscapes. Most modeling apps work well with Bryce. Main issue is if they export to format types Bryce supports ( obj. 3DS, dfx.) to name a few.

The edit smooth option works well just as it's designed to do. It does not change the geometry of an import, It only changes the way it renders it. If you have a cube and you want to smooth the edges, it won't do that ( that's changing the geometry ).

You have to have the file/render animation menu up, then hold the shift key as you click the check to exit. Should work with Bryce 4 and 5,

You can increase the polygon count of terrain and lattices in the TE by increasing the resolution. Other then that you can't, ( not that I know of ) If your problem is an import looks rough like you can actually see the polygons, you can smooth it using the E icon
Thread: Your Suggestions Please!! | Forum: Bryce
I never used Truespace or Carrara, but I do have RDS 5.5 which I'm not very fond of. Been learning IE Universe lately, I would suggest to get an app that supports NURBS. Not sure if those two do, look into it. You'll be happy with what can be accomplished with NURBS. I here Rhino is one of the best, has a higher price tag though.

Set-up to render a 1 or 2 frame animation ( File/animation set-up ) Make sure the window is in Wireframe Mode, then hold the Shift+Ctrl+Alt ( you may need to only hold the Shift key, on my computer I have to hold all three ) While holding the keys click the render button, the render animation menu should pop up. in the output option select BMP Sequence, and set a location to save the images ( Set File Location option). Then exit the menu holding the Shift+Ctrl+Alt keys Should then render a 2 frame BMP sequence in wireframe, and save it to the set location.
Thread: boolean object - export from bryce5 into 4 | Forum: Bryce
Although I haven't tried I doubt B4 will support any B5 files, I did recently try to import some B5 materials into B4 and all I got was a black library preset.
