Okay, just accidentally tried to put an item that was already in my cart into my cart again. Website caught it, fine, excellent. Problem is the text is dark (olive?) on dark blue. It's almost impossible to read unless you highlight it with your mouse. Not good color scheme at all guys.... :(
Edited to add a thought. Not a fan of bright white, but here's a simple fix. Change the white spots on the website with blue (not the lettering) and the blue spots with white. At least then you could mostly read the text. Also, no website beta feedback? Really??

This kind of seems very retro design look. Not in a good way, more in a 2002 website design way.

Wow... blinding... I am not fond of the changes at all. Is there a way for the user to change them? At least it isn't white font on white background (looking at you foriegn film subtitle management who puts white lettering on snow scenes... grrr). This seems very boxy now too. Wow. It does hurt the eyes. Just a few moments and eye strain. Sure the competition didn't do this?

If it stopped working it could be an issue with a system update, or anti-virus software or firewall software blocking key files. Check for possible conflicts there too.

No where in that video did the guy say that mixing other's material was LEGAL, only that he thought it should be, the idiot.
The most profound reason that it's illegal is so that the creator can have control over where and in what context his artwork is shown, and that he be compensated for it. How hard is it to contact someone and ASK them if it's ok to use their work?
Laurie
Once again, I point to the music industry as a prime example. Film as well. He's not arguing that copyright should be ended. He's arguing the law must be changed. A prime example is copyright problems are when it's used to incorrectly to halt parody or satire. The current law in the US and fair use.

unfortunately im on limited 3G broadband and dont have the luxury of watching 20 minute videos -- but current laws 'choke creativity'?!

Nothing like judging a viewpoint without seeing the video. Easy to give a flippant answer. Transcript version though the script is not the same without the video.

The point he's making is how many artists re-use other artists work (especially in music, this is very common). Many songs sample usually without permission of the original artists. The video explains this in a rather humorous way. Technologically speaking the current Apple vs. Samsung patent lawsuit is an example of how consumers lose. Even the judge stated consumers lose (though she sided with Apple in the end). Samsung wasn't allowed to show how Apple "borrowed" ideas from other creators (one example was the tablets being used in Star Trek).
Angry outbursts tend to cause people to lose sympathy by the way. Being that your customers read this I'd keep the tone civil even though I think you should keep your anger directed at the original violator in you mentioned in the top of the thread.

I do sympathize and agree with WandW about the DMCA take down if possible. Generally most sites will comply within a timely manner if notified.
If you contact the publisher with proof it's possible they will remove the product from the market place. That said, have you always used only your products to promote your work? No hair or clothing from another vendor, or pose? No background or python script to create the scene, or 3rd party CGI program to render? I'm not siding on the person who did this, obvious plagiarism. There's no defense for blatently using someone else's work without permission or license.
On a side note, there are several interesting TED talks about copyright math.

Thread: Massive amount of new clearance items? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Quote - i fail to see the problem with clearance:
"If a product hasn't had any sales in the last 90 days it's moved into the Clearance section.*"Â *
if a product doesnt sell one copy in nearly half a year - even on sale - it is either a hopelessly niche product, flawed in some way (whether in content or presentation),  overpriced or obsolete.  clearance tries to address these problems.
the bottom line is that Renderosity is a marketplace here to make money. Â if your local convenience store had a type of candy bar on the shelf that not one person bought in 6 months, they would remove them from the shelves to make room for something that will sell.Â
Given the sheer amount of items listed on a regular basis, and not to mention other shops, the candy bar on the shelf metaphor isn't very good. If you aren't quick enough to wishlist an item within 3 days you might have great trouble finding it here in the store again. In grocery stores, the companies that pay the most money get their items placed on shelves at eye level. Technically this is true of the giant companies too (look how many products Coca Cola markets as example, or the Pepsi Co company of products). Yes Renderosity is about making money for themselves. However to get rid of an item that doesn't sell can be a self defeating business. Businesses that stock just one item are closer to being nieche markets and have a very tenous existance unless they control the overall market (interfereing with competition). Doing so also generaly interferes with quality of products coming to market.
Established vendors do have an advantage of customer loyalty and familiarization with quality of product. That said, there are many items in clearance that are of equal quality or better. Given customers have a limited amount of funds it's difficult to realize how a glut of clearance products can be released at one time can affect those funds.
*edited to make the statement above clearer... hopefully
I've picked up a lot of older products via Prime sales. Some of which had been clearance. Bundling older products together (at reduced prices) can bring a sale as well. I have picked up several bundles here and elsewhere (at other shops).
As a content creator how would you feel if your product was relagated to a lower shelf (back to grocery metaphor) or page 75 when you hadn't sold an item in 90 days? Being an experienced content creator you might have a little more understanding and patience, but a new content creator could very easily be discouraged and leave the market (which some established vendors would be happy about)...
I think an additional Prime Clearance section (or pages) might be a good idea in adding the possiblity of extra sales for vendors (a little money is still money after all) as well as a nice perk for Prime users.

Thanks for the information. So the vendors are having to host the images themselves. Did not know that :)
