Thread: Why poly counts are different in Vue 5 to Vue 6? | Forum: Vue
Here is a little more info.
Ihave the file saved in Vue 5 infinite and opened it in Vue 6.60-04 Infinite and the polygon count was 120,000 as if I imported the .obj from scratch.
Go figure.
I really wish someone would hire some programmers and send them on a mission to France and break into E-On and rewrite the program the way it should be written. 8-)
I guess I might just as well go back to version 6.60-04 as that is what the poly count will end up being when people bring it into Vue 6 7 or 8 anyway. So much for things getting better with every new version. Can you say Windows 7?

**Hi Guys,
Sounds like I am just glued to Vue 5 for the time being.
I have Maya, Cinema 4D and Max as my main programs but I prefer Max for modeling as it has some pretty cool tools in there.
Vue is really not that bad of a program if you don't get too fat on the models.
I usually weld stuff in Vue that does not need to be on it's own, just so Vue does not have to think too hard to keep track of all those objects.
Also have learned to keep the images I use for textures to a relatively small size.
Any way thanks for the info guys.
Kind regards, tom
P.S. Arraxxon would you be interested in buying Cinema 4D? Don't use it much these days.****

Thread: Sorry no Warehouse version coming to you | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
Hi Guys,
After I finish my current project I am going to take all of your suggestions and give it another try.
Seems like a terrible waste not to. Thanks for all your input and rest assured I am going to try everything I can to get it resolved even if I have to remove some items to do so.
My first area will to work on will be the textures. I know I can reduce those quite a bit with out making this product look cheesy.
Kind regards, Tom

Thanks Coleman.
Man what a coincidence. My next product is called Coleman's Crates.
Should be done very soon.

Thread: Sorry no Warehouse version coming to you | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
Hi All,
Sorry it has taken me so long to respond but I have been mulling over in my head, what to do about this situation. If I create all the buildings separately then when someone thinks they can load them all in Poser, and it crashes then I am the bad guy. This model was designed to be an entire city block. If I leave out some of it, then it will seem incomplete. I suppose I could remove the 24 different weed types with their respective transparency maps as well as reducing the amount of maps in general. As an example the concrete walls have ten different maps to give a natural variation in texture. That same thinking is woven through out the entire project. If i remember correctly there were 268 maps with 285 materials. That is what Poser is having a heart attack from.
After spending the better part of 6 weeks working on this model it was non the less a huge let down to me as well. Oh if only Poser would hire some good programmers to bulk up the software. But I am expecting way too much I think, as I am used to working in multi dollar programs such as Maya, 3D Studio max and Cinema 4D.
I am open to suggestions as to what to do as well as what you think I could loose in the model to reduce the load on Poser. My first thought is to remove the weeds. That in itself might be enough to make the difference. I spent who knows how long placing thousands of them individually. I suppose I could make a set of plant to sell as a separate product so if you wanted to go that route then so be it.
As far as poly gon reduction software it always tears the UVW maps and I would have to start from scratch on that as well.
Have to say I am at a loss as to what I should do.
Well enough rambling for now.
Kind regards, Tom
After I hit post it occurred to me that I could assign just one map to all of the weeds which would be better than having no weeds at all. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
We shall see, what we shall see.
Still would love to hear your ideas.

Thread: Fishers Warehouseing ( peek one ) | Forum: MarketPlace Showcase
Hi Esther,
Thanks for the kind words.
There will be a Poser version and a separate Vue version.
However I have started to include the .obj files with my Poser products so you can import them into Vue and other programs.
The difference between the two is about 2,800 objects. The Poser version will have around 100 to 150 objects where as the Vue version will have around 2,900 objects. There are somwhere in the area of 1700 individual weeds place on this model and that would be way too much work in Poser to import that many objects in, one at a time.
In Vue they will all be available to move scale etc. re-texture.
Hi Wolfe,
Good ideas as well. You will be able to move different parts around in both versions. In Poser it will be limited to and entire street of sidewalk instead of the individual sidewalk sects as they are modeled in Max.
You will be able to move the buildings around if you like.
Thanks again both of you for the nice words about my warehouse project.
kind regards, Tom
Thread: Reduceing file sise for exported models, how? | Forum: Bryce
I just exported one little building that was only 9,000 polygons and the file sise ended up at 99 megs. Way too large to manage. The .obj and the texture maps that I used to create this product only can to a total of about 25 megs.
