The only thing that I would correct in Cheers post is that it's bet to have 4 RAM (of 256 or 512 if you have extra bucks) for optimizing memory usage with dual proc. Hope it can helps Argentium Thri'ile

In fact, you can use any 3D primitive from any program (sphere, or others). You just have to edit the object to disable smoothing informations. For one of my first picture in Vue 3.0, I loaded a 3ds skull, applied a crystal material and disabled smoothness... it looks great ! Hope it can helps... Argentium Thri'ile

If you paid attention to the problem reposts, you should have see that 75 % of problems are solved with downloading the last patch (4.1) or the last hardware drivers, or simply getting to know what is the 'right' way of making things... For the still 25 %, consider that some have the problem while others don't. You really don't have luck if you have the whole 25 % of problems that can occur with Vue. So, my answer is "no, you didn't waste your bucks !" Argentium Thri'ile

I agree with Jilly, this is a pretty good work and there are lots of elements really interesting. And I think that these experiments are the strong roots for some more ambitious projects. It's just up to you to add some life and magic to your scenes. Use the skills you gain in setting these scenes for building a strong picture. What I saw are good promises that just wait to live !!! Thread: Dragon in Vue | Forum: Vue
Yep, it looks great ! My only advice, if you try to build a new scene with the dragon (and I hope you will !!!) is to tweak the dragon texture for making a bump map... Argentium Thri'ile
Thread: Compatibility question | Forum: Vue
If your question is : "what application can I use for using the vue files (scene's x.vue, object's x.vob, material's x.mat, etc...)", the answer is none ! The only thing you can export for using with another program are terrain that can be exported as x.3ds files. As far as I know, bryce is as export-unfriendly as vue... Argentium Thri'ile

Wow this is ugely great light settings !!! I don't understant what is that sphere... is it the light cone ? If it is, that can be, effectively, the light gel. I think that you should tell us more about your scene for we can try to find where's the problem coming from. Argentium Thri'ile

ATI, dude !!! IMHO, there's no choice ! ;-) Yes, ATI had some big problems with drivers but they looks improving this issue... I don't guarantee you'll have top of the top drivers directly from purchasing, but they'll probably be stable and fonctional. And, from my own experience, really good drivers comes faster with every generation of products they product... I can also say that it's the only actual graphic card supporting DX9. And, if as I supposed in another post, Poser 5 will have a hardware rendering engine -and perhaps Vue 5- you'll not be disapointed... :-) And in fine, I think they deliver an excellent card... My 2 cents opinion... Argentium Thri'ile

... and in every aquarium, there is... err how can I say that ?... a flow or a column of bubbles... I hope you'll understand :-) Argentium Thri'ile
