...hummm... Canon has a full-size ccd... sop a 50mm lens is a general use lens but not a portrait one... 105 is a better choice for a portrait... But i feel more copnfortable buying a couple of good zooms... like a 35-70 f2.8 and a 70-200...

hummm... first of all... I would like to know how your monitor is calibrated. Excluding the fact that you are using windows the calibration is almost casual in its precision... but something like a more refined calibration can be done in few easy steps. In general... if you doesn't have your monitor calibrated the color profiles of photoshop means little... coz you don't see the result close enough. So... what are your monitor settings? White temperature and so on... which monitor are you using?

yeah... but works better on standard polaroids (the ones with emulsion IN the photo... dunno the exact name... but are the most common type), there's a girl from Rimini (near where i live) that has recently published a book of polaroids shooted using this technique (not mine) in which she "draws" lines on the "fresh" polaroid with a inkless pen. results are interesting.

simple simple... Made in direct sunlight... A way to develop Polaroids. I shot these using a Mamiya 645s Medium format camera (soon to be replaced with a Hasselbladt 500c) with a Polaroid Back. Take the Polaroid from the camera, let elapse 1.5/2 minutes and then open the polaroid. Trash the photography itself and keep the emulsion. Press it with a tin can on a piece of paper (watercolour paper is the best, but almost any paper should work) and tadaaaaaaaahn you have this. Ok. this shot is somewhat crappy, but using bigger polaroids or using better paper than the one i've used here and playing with the emulsion will lead to interesting results.

Hi there... and good evening... humm... i'm workintg on a Palm Proggy that keeps track for you of these infos. It's a very easy to use database that syncronize himself with your desktop computer. Maybe if someone is interested i could use the community for beta-testing. Works on Mac and PC and under PalmOS or PocketPC platforms. so everytime you are outside you can record every single aspect of your shots and films in real-time. Keeps track of all your data to remember when you work with the Zonal System.
Thread: New scanner advice | Forum: Photography
hummm... hi all... long time no see. First of all: I don't like Canon digital products of consumer level. Thay are cheap (a good point) but of low-quality in material and in problem solutions at interface and electronic level. This is the principal reason for their price. The LED system that is used in the CANON scanners (ALL the canon scanning machines) is very approssimative in detecting colors and grain. also it is very limited if you use non-bidimensional supports. for example: try to scan a watch... the LED system "catch" what is in direct contact wityh the glass but will not scan deeper. So you could lose informations from a non-perfectly plain document. The color profiles of the canon scanners (but canon printers have the same problems too) are very inaccurate. Even using an hardware calibrated monitor and using Colorsync. Epson scanners are better. so buy one of these if you could afford it. Canon scanners are wasted money if you plan to buy a mid to high quality scanner. Other choice. If you don't need a transparency adapter try to locate an Heidelberg-Hell Jade2 Scanner. you could purchase it for less than 100$ and you will have a superior scanning machine for non-transparent supports. And the software is the better piece of soft for scanning i've ever seen.
