If you can't find what you're looking for I would be quiet happy to try and build one from scratch for you. I am in the process of building a "Sopwith Camel" for myself and a "Chevrolet Cruze" for a third party but I am sure I can find time to develop the model if time is not a major issue.
Thread: Diagonal Lines ? | Forum: Blender
Ah.. I see it now.. Not such an easy job when the surface that needs to be cut is slighly sperical... But I'll give it a go and see what happens.

Take your time my friend. I have several other projects develping myself also, so I can spend the time on them until you kindly put forward the tutorial.

Any chance of a small tutorial as I can't seem to fully understand the process you have noted. Call me thick if you wish (Grin!).

I am also still a newbie to blender but learning quickly. It has even taken top place between "Hexagon", "Carrara" and Blender. One day I will be going into creating full scenes and then animation (but that is a long way to go yet.)
Thanks for the link. I will check it out and I am always on the look out for extra modelling addons. You never know when they come in handy.

The process I followed in Version 4.9 was to click once at the beginning of the cut with the knife tool and then again at the end whilst holding down the "K" key. This gave a perfectly straight line.
With the amount of texturing that the model will need when complete "Boolean" is off the list of possibles because as you state it will create "bad geometry".
Thread: Can you distribute the V4/M4.cr2? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sadly the answer is no. You can distribute any morphs etc that you create for the product but not the product itself.

Thread: Carrara 8 Pro DOF | Forum: Carrara
I don't know if has changed in version 8 but I use carrara7pro and the DOF is something that is added at the end of the full render. Are you waiting for the piece to fully render ?
Thread: Why is Blender so hard to understand? | Forum: Blender
I thnk where you may be getting confused is the fact that within most 3d applications you use the left mouse button to select your mesh or camera whilst in blender you use the right mouse button. Blender was created on the basis of speed and accuracy which is why it has never had the cheerful interface style shown by others and so also uses less CPU than others and so can be used within a smaller climate.
I will agree that blender is not the the easiest program to learn, but when it comes to modelling it knocks the socks off most programs and even makes the BIG! boys sweat a bit.
I will also say that when it comes to learning about the program, blender has a lot more resources than any other 3d program (I also use Carrara7pro, Hexagon, Bryce7pro and several others) I have ever used.
I have been learning about blender for the past 8 months now and starting to get more comfortable with it... Hopefully I will start developing some models/scenes of my own soon.
Overall this is just my thoughts on the program and everyone can have their own opinions.
Thread: EYER Hybrid FE - is it free version? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes the FE version is free though it does not have the full spec of the pay for version. But it is well worth trying out the free version just to see how it operates and if maybe later you want to upgrade to the full version.

I have to admit that this is one of the reasons that I have 2 desktops and 1 laptop. I let the desktops take care of the Big work when it comes to my 3d modelling/rendering and my Music side whilst the laptop takes care of my internet work and docs etc. Desktops do tend to be a lot more sturdy when it comes to heavy loads.
I hope you get your system sorted soon.

I'm fine thanks.. Just keeping my head above water as they say LOL.
That's the best way to learn about carrara I think. Just twiddle with the settings and see what comes up and I have to agree with you, when it come to the modeling side, Hexagon is also my favourite.
Thread: carrara is awesome | Forum: Carrara
If that is your first render then I take my hat off to you... A lot better than my first render.
LOL.. Everone wants to learn quicker once they start to realize what carrara can do. I have been using carrara now for about 3 years and I am still finding hidden tools that amaze me. For what carrara costs I don't think you can any better.
