Thread: Question from newbie | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Personally I recommend Cinema 4d, I'ts easy to import/export, has a user-friendly interface and is priced reasonable. Check out the c4d forum and galleries to get a better idea. Furthermore, there are numerous plugins that will allow you to import you poser characters with little effort. (At least a lot less effort than bryce)
Thread: Poser 5 Runtimes | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Bear with me, I'm not on my normal pc so I'm running on my aging memory! 1. When you have poser loaded, click on one of the library options, 'figures' for example. 2. Press the folder with the arrow on it, this will take you to the runtime menue. (You should see 'poser 5' with a red dot, and a folder called downloads.) 3. Press the + at the bottom of the column, (Just like adding a new pose to your library). This will allow you to browse to your new runtime folder. 4. Once you have found your new runtime folder, select it, and it "should" appear in your runtime library as you currently selected runtime. Now you can choose which runtime to work with. When you need more runtimes, just do the same steps. Hope this helps, and I hope I haven't missed anything. (I have 6 runtimes!)
Thread: Looking for paintball equipment | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hopefully within a week or so I should have everything converted. I'm having a few problems with the sniper however. Poser likes to round the geometry of the marker where I need sharp clear edges, so I may have to do some mesh surgery to clear the problem up. I'll post a note here when I have the conversion done.

I currently have a tippman a5, 98 custom pro, Brass Eagle Marauder and an armotech sniper for marker models. I have a 9oz, and 20oz tank models. A Brass Eagle face mask/goggle model. I have a remote feed hose setup and various .40, .42 and .68 caliber paintballs. They are still in .c4d format as I have yet to set them up for poser. The mask was modeled around m3, and I plan to make some for v3 as well. All of the markers have moving triggers, bolts, and the sniper comes with a removable clip. As for clothing, I can map textures for any piece of clothing that already exists. Pods and hoppers are a 5 minute job for the standard gravity fed style. Electric ones my take a bit longer but shouldn't be a problem.

I have to say Combustion 3. I've never used PI, but the two look extremely similar. The downside to Combustion, is the steep learning curve. But well worth the time to learn!
Thread: How do I impliment JCM's in clothing I make? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If my memory serves me right, I believe the Clothes Converter has the ability to 'inject' morphs from characters into clothing, then save as a new item. I just got the program myself so I haven't had a chance to check it out.

The Maya doll is a free model that you can download (or at least was). She looks a lot better than Judy, but doesn't have the morph control of the p5 characters. Daz's millenium series, while not free, can provide almost any character you can think of, plus there are boatloads of freebies for them.

I have had that problem a few times myself, and found that using the phi builder to be the best way.
Thread: Poser 4... Plastic bag wrapped around a person's face: Possible? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
p4 has no cloth room. but the idea can be aplied with dynamics in another program.
You could take the face of the character and make it into a prop with a plastic texture applied to it. That you can do in p4.

Thread: YAHOO USERS BEWARE OF SPYWARE | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Zone alarm can be somewhat twitchy, but since I upgraded to ZA security suite 5, I havent had a single glitch. Comes with a good anti-virus,web filter, and is even easier to understand than the previous versions.

Recently I discovered that the combination of xoftspy, spybot, spywareblaster and webroot's spysweeper effectivly cleared out any and all of the hidden 'bugs' in my system. I also use BHO demon 2, which lets me know if there are any hidden browser helpers trying to install. Along with zone alarm security suite and firefox, I haven't had a single problem. Xoftspy even got rid of the bugs that were wrapped around some of my core files without destroying the file itself!
Thread: free RAM without re-start ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use mem turbo. It was the only ram defragger and cleaner out there that I could use while poser was still running without a program crash. The interface is rediculously simple. Not sure if they have a freeware version or not, but there is a demo I believe.
