Hi steevler, I'm a neebie too but I think I can explain the texture/morph/ thing. morphs - each model in Poser has a geometry that you can deform to change its apperance for example the human models have deformers to change the shape of the face/length of the limbs and widen the hips etc. Just like in max when you start with a sphere and use the tools to deform it so it has a dimple to change it into a cherry for example. In poser this deforming process is called morphing & each part of the model has specific things you can deform or morph. textures - each model in poser comes with a standard look usually a skin tone, created using a texture map which is applied to the model so you don't get to see the geometry underneath, again in max you'd create a cylinder & if you wanted it to look like a pillar you'd apply a marble texture to it so it appeared to be a section of a marble pillar. If anyone more experienced wants to point out my mistakes please feel free, if I'm getting it wrong I need to know.

Thanks everybody, the pictures helped a great deal Sharen. I have to say I'm definately impressed with your house, & I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it. As a newbie I can appreciate how difficult it is to set up scenes, I've had Poser for 3 weeks now & I'm still fiddling about trying to get it right. Still practice makes perfect (or better anyway)

There's a plug in for the Pro Pack at Curious Labs. I Don't have Cinema 4d v7 so I can't tell you what it does, maybe you should contact Curious Labs & ask them what the plug in does

I'm running Poser 4 & Pro Pack on 512MB ram with Windows 98, which is the maximum ram for that os as I found out from Curious Labs, & DAZ. One tip that everybody here & Curious Labs/DAZ gave me was to shut down everything except systray & explorer before using Poser & the milennium figures. After following their advice I can load the millennium people (Mike 2.0, Vicky 2.0 & Steph) & watch my system crawl. KatetheShrew reccommended getting a program to free up ram, she suggected Rambooster, DAZ suggested Cacheman, I tried them both & prefer Cacheman.
Thread: Question about the DAZ survey | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I got my voucher the next day, I filled in the survey on Thursday (I think!), but definately before the gorilla appeared in freestuff. Maybe the servers are just overloaded from the demand for him?
Thread: We already know..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
As a newbie I appreciate the heads up here from the members, otherwise I would'nt have got the gorilla. I havent got into the habit of checking out the DAZ site on a regular basis, I spend far too much time here in the forums/marketplace/freestuff. Or at RDNA. I suppose at some point I really should use some of the stuff I've got to render a picture lol.

Thanks everybody, I'd better give my credit card a rest though, if I use it anymore I think it'll melt.

As a neewbie, I'll take your advice c1rcle, thing is, now I've gotten bitten by the poser bug I've been buying things right & left. I'll save the few dollars now, & buy it when I'm better at using poser, I'm still working through the poser 4 tutorial. I did play around with poser 3 as a freebie from a 3d magazine but poser 4 seems to be a whole new ball game. Conforming clothing really helps when I'm posing, even if it's only moving the arms to the sides

Thread: Victoria 2.0 & Poser Pro Pack incompatability | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Nance, I've tried it again, checking the windows system monitor.
Everything closed down except systray & explorer - 213.8Mb
Poser Pro loaded with empty document window - 257Mb
Vicky 2 Loaded - 280.3Mb
SDMAT chainmail full (Daz Gothic Armour) - 287.3Mb
Vicky 2 fully armoured in Gothic Armour - 324.6Mb
Render at 530 x 600 pixels, 351.9Mb while rendering.
So, Poser Pro Loaded = 43.2Mb
Vicky 2 Loaded = 23.3Mb
Vicky 2 & SDMAT = 30.3Mb
Vicky 2 & SDMAT & Full Gothic Armour = 67.6Mb
Does this sound about right?
Thread: Victoria 2.0 & Poser Pro Pack incompatability | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi Nance, I've just checked using the resource monitor, with all tasks except systray & explorer shut down I loaded Vicky 2, & dressed her in the full gothic armour, including the full chainmail mat from the DAZ 3d site, total memory usage 292.9MB, rendering in the document window with just the default settings in Poser (document window reset to 530 by 600 pixels) ramped it up to 312.5MB
