I just got the upgrade! I had put ZBrush in a dark corner for a long time. I don't know why, but I just never got into using it. But with the new update, I believe that I will dust it off and start doing some work with it. James PS: I diddn't see that script on the site, I'll have to look for it now! Note: You have to upgrade to use "Scripts"!
Thread: Help with texture distortion? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't own/have this particular item, but sadly to say ... Unless you have a program like Deep Paint or such it is very hard to map any object so that you won't get at least a little distortion. You might try remapping it yourself with the FREE UVMapper software. Try a box map or cylindrical map. But even then, if you bend an object in Poser it tends to distort also. Sorry, I hope this wasn't to dissapointing. James

GOM, I've found that it's the hires bump map that always chokes my puter. So I reduce that in size (say around 2000 instead of 4000 pixels) and that seems to make things go again. I think it may be due to Poser Pro Pack trying to convert the jpg bump map to a Poser bum. Don't know, but that's my experience. James

But they don't work too well with Michael :( They scale up fine, but the placement on the foot is too far forward. Just thought I'd share that info too. If you have Poser Pro Pack: After scaling them up, you can then bring them into the "setup room" and reposition the bones to make them fit and position them to Michael's feet. James

I know that pic! wink Coming to a calendar near you. wink Sorry that was off subject. GOM, Always go for the Hires version. Well always if it's done well to begin with. There are many high res images out there that no matter how large thay are they will always be bad. Yes you can scale them down (that's a good thing), but you really just end up with more detail to begin with in a higher res well done image and that just makes good sense. Though the price difference will be a deterrent to some, if you can purchase a good high res over a so-so low res. But look out for any high priced so-so high res where a good low res will do. So I also agree that a lores image , if done well can work just as well. I've done many images that are only 1024 pixels square that work as well if not better than some images that were 4000 pixels square. What am I really saying? The quality in the image will determaine the quality in the render no matter what size, but the more detail (higher res) usually the better. Sorry if I took the long way around just to say that. James

Thanks ngeorge! I'm waiting very patiently (fingers drumming the table top loudly). I think you will have plenty of interest in this, so please post ASAP ;-) You also may want to share the process of how you finally created and boned this peice to encourage those of us who want to do such things, but are a little squeemish about tackling something like this. Thanks again! James PS: I'm great at textures if you need any help.

Very nice BTW. I have no knowledge of boning. Still alludes me :( But I wanted to say that the clothes are supurb. I'd love to get a copy of that neck line and front, It would be great to creat a kimono with it. James
Thread: A simple question for the Mac users out there... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm still on 9.1 on both G4s (G4 and G4 Cube). I have OSX and OSX.1 should be coming soon. I don't know why but I'm a bit worried to upgrade. My G4's are only 400 and 450 MHz (though they do run faster than my 866 MHz PC) and I'm scared that OSX will slow things down. And I'm also wary of the "Classic" emulation. Bryce 5 is OSX, so that's good, but I don't know how Poser Pro will handle the emulation. But as I said I do own it and one of these days I'll put it on. Come on people convince me .....;-) James

Thanks people. Sorry wgreenlee, but I never put anything in the gallery. Don't know why not, but I never do. And since it's under 200k (I always have had the policy of only posting small images in a post -- or otherwise warn for a large image in the thread headline -- but Renderosity got smart and now you can only put an image of 200l or less in a post -- good for them) I just include images in my posts. Ok saxon, maybe it's just too early on the morning Zzz (|-0)=[ But why the "long line? James

Thanks AS, Here's the response I posted: "OK, see if I understand what I hope yopu may be saying.... If I create a sky or use one of the presets, and then select the "Soft shadows", let the nano preview do it's thing, and then select the preset triangle and save it, it will save the soft shadow selection? The only way I know now on how to get the Sun to soft shadow is to manually play with the settings. DO NOT, I repeat, do not use or click on any of the quick presets. They seem to negate the soft shadow button. Maybe Corel will get wind of this and fix it. We can only hope. ;-)" James

Spelling never counts in my book. As long as we get the message. Thanks anyway Dann-O, but I know about those things. I need to get the soft shadows to work as AgentSmith and I have talked about. And I need to get the NEW Tree creator to do what it says it will. Just telling it to be a conifer and changing it's leaves to a conifer should change it dramatically, but it doesn't. Maybe yet another bug, maybe B5 was released a bit premature? And Thanks Agent, I have tried exactly what you did. I really wish someone replies with a soon to be fix for this really big bug in my opinion. James
Thread: michael mac version | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just get the FREE MACconverter utility (I think it's still in the Free section here) But if you have the Pro Pack you just need to copy the files over to the same location (Folders) on the PC. Pro doesn't care about the rsr files (Mac doesn't have them) and will read them anyway. But use the utility just to make sure. James
