so much of this is perspective, I may look at an image and think, 'wow - that's wonderful' because something about it strikes a chord in me. Someone may at it and thinks, 'ugh'. Granted, there are those images that just Shine, whether they are your cup of tea or not but still, we have to remember that art does not effect each of us the same way.
Thread: Image Gallery Concern | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
lwperkins brought up the point about the ratings and comments being potentially a learning tool for the artist, and I agree. But then there are folks like me, who have no real input to offer besides encouragement in the comments. I'm a rank newbie, but I know what I like when I see it, so I keep my comments short and sweet. (the ratings I give do reflect what I have to say though.) Does this make me a member of the 'hug' club ? Maybe. Do I care? Not a bit. I think encouraging other artists is important. One of the real joys of my day is going through the 'what's new' section of the gallery. For my own work, I love it when folks leave a comment and a rating, but for me its the process of creating and sharing that's important.. not the rank. Maybe if I did top notch work, I'd feel differently about it.

thank you, everyone! Now, next question, when you resize it after postwork, do you loose detail?

Thanks, rubicon. hmm.. I usually save as a png, I bet I just messed up and did a jpeg the last time...
I'd still love to hear folks opinion on a good size to work on for postwork, as well.

Thread: Speaking of V3 - seam guides. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you dvlenk and SamT! I have them now. I wasn't exactly sure how they worked but I thought it might be fun to try and paint a simple second skin and experiment a bit. Daz's site has been kind of funky all day, I think. It took me forever to navigate when I was there earlier.
Thread: Merchant resource packages, are there too many? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have purchased a few merchant packs.. I don't use them to make products to sell, but I like having the options of trying to put together skins and make ups myself. Its fun for artist wanna-be's like me. So are there too many.. not for me. What I would love to see along the line of clothing.. is mix and match stuff you could buy just a piece or two.. or ten. Your choice. Not sure if that's feasible, but I know I'd buy more clothes if I could pick and choose what pieces I'd get. Instead of a big package I would only use one piece of..
just a thought,

Thread: V4, V3 Poser 5 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well, I don't really have a V4 and not sure when I'll have the coin to buy her. Does your remap thing work the opposite way.. ie, can you make V4 skins and clothes fit V3?

Love the red riding hood costume.. I'd like to see something like it for V3 as well.

Thread: Maybe a texturing difficulty | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I was afraid it might be hard for someone else to know what was going on from my description, its like going to an auto mechanic and saying... 'its going click, click, Bonk'. But I'll definitely try your suggestions. I don't have tons of ram.. 712 mgb so that certainly could be an issue. What has me puzzled is why other things will render and this won't. I think the textures are just normal size.. but then I really don't know what's normal. If I remember right 4000x1272 . I didn't resize them, just left them the size they were out of the package.

ha! edited to change 'gigs' to mgb, gosh don't I wish I had a computer that could handle that much ram!

Many thanks! I'll give it another whirl and see if time and patience (and turning off excess processes works).

**svdl,

Oh! You're 100% right! Thanks soo much for the pointer, I'll need that, looking at what you have there, what I planned wouldn't have worked.
And nickedshield, thank you, I hadn't thought of magnets, I've never messed with them and I really Should learn, seems like they'd be handy.

Thread: White gold ring | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thank you all so much! I did try doing a ring with the torus in primitives, so far no luck. I got it to look like I wanted but not to fit onto his finger correctly. Definitely worth trying again. I'll use one of the free rings Acadia listed. I've always wanted to do a project made up of images of characters from my favourite series of books and the white gold ring is important for that.

Thanks SamTherapy, now, and here's where I show my ignorance.. what's a torus and where does one find one?
