Hi France No problem. Have a look in your poser directory and you will notice you have a download directory. If you're like everyone else in the world you won't have put anything in there. Copy this folder, including it's subdirectory into the Poser 5 directory (It should rename itself as "Copy of Downloads". OK now rename it to whatever you like. ie. Clothes Now if you've already got all the clothes in one place in your library just cut and paste from one diretory to another. ie. From "RuntimeCharacterClothing" to "ClothingCharacterClothing". Any prop clothes from one prop folder to your new prop folder, etc. Now load poser and in the Library window keep ascending up the folder structure until you reach Poser 5 with a red dot. At the bottom now you should see a plus sign (Add new runtime folder). Click on the plus sign and browse to your "Clothes" folder. Click ok and now you've got a standard Poser 5 runtime and a clothes runtime. That's it. Have fun NeilP
Thread: What are skull caps used for exactly? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Scull caps are used to parent the hair to so you can save your shairstyle without having to save the model and the hair everytime. See my tutorial on making Dynamic hair at www.neilp.co.uk
Thread: Another Tip That MIGHT Make Poser LOAD Much Faster! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This is impossible. Poser 4 or 5 has never read the registry and, unless they totally reqrite it, never will. Therefore any changes DS makes to the registry will have no affect on Poser. Poser does not use initialisation files and, unless they totally rewrite it, never will. Therefore any changes DS makes to the registry will have no affect on Poser. Poser 5 does use and XML file to store locations and desktop settings so maybe, just maybe DS puts MAGIC code into that. Yours Unbelievingly NeilP
Thread: Question about grouping and saving hair so that it can be used later.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Oh Dear. I hate to be the harbinger of bad news but I'm afraid the only way to save that hair now is to save Vicky and the hair attached as a whole. You always need to use a scull cap as it acts as the parent for the hair. When saving to the library, you save the scull cap and the hair attached to it. Have a look at my hair tutorials on www.neilp.co.uk. Poser... it's all a painful learning exercise.

Have a look at my free morph dial cleaner in the free stuff section. It removes them for you... as long as you are finished adding morphs.

Each of the major players 3D Studio MAX, Rhino, Maya, etc have their own pros and cons. I use all of them for different reasons. I reckon 3D studio MAX is the most used and best supported so I would go with 3D studio MAX. As for using photographs... You can look at them for reference but that's about it. Checkout the 3ds max forum here for more info.

Thread: Is there a way to prevent hair strands from going through the head? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've worked in the Hair room for quite a while as my store shows and I can definately confirm that collision detection does not work whilst editing (Styling) the hair. The only way to avoid the roots going into the head is to adjust the sliding vert scale and GO SLOWLY. It is also best to use the dials Up, down and back to get the hair pieces roughly in shape before styling and remember once you have started styling NEVER touch those dials again as it will destroy any styling that you have done. I have some hair tutorials on my site HTTP://www.neilp.co.uk that might help althogh they meant as a basic introduction. Good luck NeilP

Poser addiction is something you will have to come to terms with. I have been trying hard myself. I'm down to 5 renders a day with the odd morphing tutorial on my bad days. Keep at it... it all makes sense in the end. NeilP

Thread: Is there a way to input .midi or .wave sounds ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The only sound that I know Poser will deal with is a WAV file that you can load when doing animations although there was a freebie Calliope with played a midi file through a python script. Search the freebies for Calliope.

Ah yes. The trick there, because it's a dress, is to avoid trying to conform anything below the hip. You have to use morphs. Take the DAZ dresses, All morphs to move the lower half of those dresses. That's why this one is only 90% there.. I got a lot of morphs to create. Is 3 hours sleep a night healthy?
