There's an official plugin for Poser->Maya at www.reiss-studio.com We've worked with Curious Labs, and their libraries on this, and animations can play back inside maya, as well as textures and geometry. If you go to the purchase link at: http://www.reiss-studio.com/article/articleview/26 you will see information about Poser5 translation into Maya. cheers! -JoshThread: For those who have purchased the 'Danelle' character(and for those that havent) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Gabriel, sorry that this could happen to anyone. and it's good to see (again) how supportive the entire community is when something like this happens. "the light sets were deemed by Curious Labs to be non-copyrightable" from what I understand (personally, not as a representative of any company) curious labs never deemed a light SET to be non-copyrightable. but they did deem individual light settings to be non-copyrightable. the reason being that if they deemed a light copyrightable, then someone could copyright "white" and then go after everyone who's using his light from different angles... uy! or even worse, someone could try to copyright the individual r, g, and b settings like .1, .2, .5, 1, 0, 0.11, etc... and then go after anyone who used a setting that didn't have at least 3 decimal places. But an actual collection of lights is completely copyrightable, and you can go after people who just copy a set that you have collected or created. cheers! -Josh

"and when they do, the newest P5 featues such as hair and cloth dynamics wont export to the other apps according to CL spokes people" I figured I'd jump in and let you know that I think you got a hold of some wrong info. (I'm running the project for the p5 plugins) cheers! -Josh

poser 5 to max (4 and 5) is also on it's way. Max will be released first :)Also if anyone has any issues with the current max plugins(propack)... we want to know about it! just send an e-mail to service@reiss-studio.com
let us know, and there's a good chance we can fix it. we've already fixed the transparency bug (you know, the one in the eyes).
cheers,
-Josh
(ps, please don't attach files when you e-mail, although a .jpg is ok, we'll ask if we need the file for a test case)

Heya, I just wanted to chime in and say thanks for treating katherine nice, she's a sweetheart! :) just wanted to let people know, they are working to get vue (and the other apps people want to see) up to speed with p5, it just wasn't the focus of this press release. As mentioned, we have entered into an active relationship with CL to deliver the high end solutions, this is more than just the previous developement efforts on the maya solution. there will be more information about the vue (and all the other plugins) in a later announcement, it just wasn't the focus of this announcement. Nothing's getting abandoned, especially not the plugins that have been used the most (like Vue). cheers! -Josh

interesting, some of the "new features" in the new media player from microsoft is to figure out if you are trying to play a copyrighted item (music, etc) and prevent it from ever playin on your machine if you do. wish it was a joke! cheers, -Josh

Hi Tim, you know it's been a while since I heard about what electric image's been up to. I remember it from when it was considered almost the only professional 3D application which was not on an SGI. If there are enough users to support a plugin like this, and the tools to do it, I'm open to the idea. is there currently a large EI community? I know we're commited to the mac solutions. cheers! -Josh
