i downloaded a complex model with a stone throne and a gothic arched window piece that went behind it. Is this what you're thinking of? i'm not at my home machine, and damned if i can remember where i got it, but i'll look it up when i get home. Is that OK?
Thread: Weird survey call from corel | Forum: Bryce
No call, but i got the Bryce 5 Beta test agreement today. Just faxed it back. Anyhow, the vendors do tend to read these forums, so perhaps all our hollering will bear fruit, eh?
Thread: Michael TestRender | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The trial pic looks super. i agree with you, Mallen, the basic Michael has features that are just too strong (among other things). i hardly use anything but Vicki and Michael and their derivatives, so i'm looking forward to your offering! Thanks for your hard work!

Thank you! i got my download & key. They're coming out with Amapi 5, soon, aren't they? i wonder what it'll cost to go from our cheapie version to the new good stuff. Sweet marketing move. :^)

Smallspace, i get your drift. Documentation is key. i actually DID RTFM, and it didn't help. [[complaining loudly so the Zbrush people will drift by and get a clue]]. Working for a software house as i do, i can understand, in a way. Version 1: big hurry to get to market. My own company didn't have good docs until version 3.7, and still i ended up writing a 170-page encyclopedia for the chart definition language on my own initiative. Why didn't they do it earlier? Dunno. Documentation will be a poor step child until they run out of venture capital and start having to live by their sales. Yep, Z-brush could be good!.

[[venting 3D frustrations]] Not to be a killjoy, but perhaps i didn't get the drift with the Z-brush i downloaded. i followed the tutorials, but they pretty much were useless, since they taught me how to twist spheres into blobs. The demo version wouldn't let me save, and there is only so much use for twisted blobs. The interface was weird, if not bizarre. (But then, i find my copy of RayDream 5.5 also to be amazingly frustrating and annoying.) How would you do anything at all accurately in this app? Arrrrgh.

i'm at work & not near my Poser (!sob!) but i think if you select the head, you'll see a morph target dial way down on the list, something like Eyebrows In. It hardly looks like anything on the face until it's rendered, and unless the texture/transmap for the eyebrows is set up, you'll barely see any effect anyhow in Poser. But you would in Bryce when you imported it. On the other hand, if you really want ALL the eyebrows to go away, dial the upper eyebrows to negative numbers, and also go to the texture map and color out the eyebrows. Well, if you want to use the textured/transmapped eyebrows, you'd have to do this anyway, so you wouldn't get double eyebrows. :^)

Note that Victoria has 2 eyebrow sets! That outer one, that you can dial in, is the one that you can provide a transparency map for, to get fine hairs. It's actually a nice feature that Jaager (i think? perhaps someone else as well) turned me onto. --Nan

Sweet! i'm heading on over to poserfashion! Er, how posable is this? can she bend over, or is this a stand-up style? --Nan
Thread: Songbird posable figure | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Not to seem ungrateful, but it seems not unreasonable to have a folded-wing model and an open-wing model, given these limitations on geometry. Perhaps the next release of songbirds? And now i have a craving for an owl, too. ((sigh)) Sorry to be so greedy with your talents and time.
