You can't do this from within Poser. You can load in a prop, and use replace body part with prop, but to my sad experience, that doesn't work for real body parts. You have to make use a utlity like compose to splice obj parts together, then edit the CR2 to point to your new object. Regards- Lemurtek
Thread: Anyone Know how to Conform new figures to other ones? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Nerd has a really good tutorial on conforming clothes. I used it on Krysta's conforming mane. Essential, you break the conforming object into the same groups as the figure it is to conform to, and then copy all the JPs to the conforming article. Anyway, Nerd's tutorial covers this in great detail. Regards- Lemurtek
Thread: trouble with textures..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi- If you're talking about the Zebra Woman texture I posted a while ago, it's meant for the Poser 4 nude woman. The usual process is to place the JPG (or whatever) picture in the runtime/textures folder. To assign it, use the libraries pull out window to add the P4 Nude woman (in the People group) to your scene. Go to render/materials menu. Make sure the correct figure is selected in the materials Object: setting at the top of the window. In the Texture Map section, click on Load, Select ZebraP4NudeWomanTexture.jpg (or whatever the filename of the picture you want to use)and click ok. Make sure you have either have texutre document display on (last sphere in the document display window) or render your scene. If you're not using Poser4, or want to use this on some other figure(like Zygote's vickie), or you're talking about some other Zebra texture, it may not work. Textures are pretty specific for the figure they were created for. I think I saw a utility to change Poser4 textures to Poser3 tetxures, in free stuff. I should be posting the actual Krysta zebra character to free stuff soon, if you want the final character with hooves and tail and all. Hope this is coherent. :) Regards- Lemurtek
Thread: Help Keep Renderosity ALIVE!!! | Forum: Community Center
I can't say I understand the big fuss against the store, it's not like anybody is forcing you to buy stuff. Remember, everything in Freestuff (including my own very humble contribution) is a GIFT, as is this site. Take the gift freely given (hopefully with a little gratitude), but don't feel you're entitled to it in perpetuity. I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I'll continue to support the freestuff section, as best my talents and time allow, regardless of whether or not I also sell anything. I'm sure many others will too. I see the store as more choice, as I see Zygote's Millie as more choice. No one is forcing you to go the commercial route, if an Artist or company decides to give you a freebie, it's their gift to give, and their choice. From an artist's perspective, having someone compliment your work is a great feeling, but having them like your work enough to sacrifice some of their hard earned cash, well, I still remember the thrill of selling my first artwork, many moons ago. So, even though I like free stuff as well as the next guy, and am not too close to being "commercial", to the store idea, I say, Hell Yeah! I think this has been mentioned before, but I think one cool idea would be to sell CD's with content from the site. It would be cool to have offline access to the gallery or forums, and CDs are a low overhead method of distribution. Other "free" type sites have done this, Aminet (on the Amiga), POV Ray (free raytracer) puts out an annual CD of images , the Lightwave mailing list has an indexed database of the list on CD. Thread: trouble: Morph Manager will not export OBJ model | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I don't know if this is related (haven't tried morph manager), but of late my Poser often crashes on .OBJ, either the ffobj bombs when starting (although Poser still loads) or it crashes when I try to import or export .OBJ. Not always, but enough to rankle me. Sometimes if I quit Poser, and restart it works. I'll probably reinstall (the standard Windows solution, sigh)if it keeps up. Lemurtek

Thread: Poser 4 to Lightwave 6 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If you just want to bring the objects into Lightwave, Modeler loads and saves both .OBJ and .3DS files. Lightwave 6 is supposed to have UV support, but I don't know anything about it. As far as translating Poser's IK or motion parameters, I think some people use LifeForms (3D motion/animation software) as an intermediary. But there is no direct plugin. You might want to check out the 3D Applications forum, there might be more info from the LW guys that hang out there. Regards- Lemurtek
Thread: Unwraped UV Mapping? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Deep Paint 3D, by Right Hemisphere, is "only" $800, and I believe it does what you are aksing about. Still too rich for my blood right now. Painter 3D has one excruciatingly annoying habit that prevents me for using it. When you paint on the 3D model, if you cross a "seam" (like from front to back) Painter bridges the gap on the 2D texture by drawing a streak through it. It overwrites anything in its way. It pretty much the most annoying software feature I've had the mispleasure of coming across in a while. Regards- Lemurtek
Thread: Deanna Troy | Forum: Poser Technical
I'm probably the least qualified to answer this, but perhaps the Troi character sets the Document or Figure Style (in the Display menu) to Texture Shaded? This mode will behave as you describe, with the textures holding throughout a pose. Just a thought. Regards- Lemurtek

Thread: I'm so ECSTATIC!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maya is by Alias|Wavefront, pretty big names in the industry, the same Wavefront as in the .obj files in fact. By the way, that $15,000 is for the Maya Unlimited professional package, which includes fur and clothing plugins and other goodies. The basic Maya Complete package I think is "only" $7500, or maybe less, and they have a crossgrade discount for Max and Softimage users (iirc), and a big disount for students, but still not exactly Hobbyist pricing. I was going to check, but their web site, http://www.aliaswavefront.com/ seems to be down, or anyway, I get a DNS error. Regards- Lemurtek

Thread: UV mapping problem... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Does anybody know what Zygote uses? Probably softimage or maya. I know Max is used in Games developement quite a bit, so it has somekind of UV capability, but it might need a plug-in like U-view. I just wish deep Paint 3D had a demo you could try with Poser Objects. I understand the need to limit your demo, but it would sure be nice to be able to see for yourself if it does what you need before plopping down $800 bucks. I'm sure it's worth it, but... Thread: UV mapping problem... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ummmm, I'm no expert, but what I did was (in Poser 4) set figure in the default pose (i.e. like in your pic), and then export as Wavefront object, with single frame, ground and hair turned off in the hierarchy selection window, with include figure names in polygon groups and weld body part seams turned on, then loaded the resultant .obj file into UVMapper, and got the desired image map (like the one on the left), which I then saved as BMP for painting in Photoshop. I changed UVMapper's output picture size to 1024 x 1024 but left everything else default. Anyway, this has worked for me. Regards- Lemurtek
Thread: Poser Textures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks all! I somehow missed the fact that Poser auto updates, excellent! And while it's not so excellent, now that I know why Painter 3D is doing those weird streaks, I can probably use it. Thanks again for the help, Regards- Lemurtek
