If I understand your question, you want to have a picture replacing the sky, don't you ? If so, here's the only way I see : Make an atmosphere with only one clouds layer. For this one, opend the material editor and reset it. Now, you can load a picture instead of a procedural mat. I don't have tested it, but I think this could work...
Thread: just a few thoughts... | Forum: Vue
I think there are lots of things that makes visitors look at a pic, and leave a comment, or not. Yes, there surly is a good part for the thumbnail. I think there is also the title. It can looks stupid but certain titles are not impressive while others can capture your attention. It's the difference between 'sun and water' and 'Wake of Victoria Lake' titles. :-) I suppse there is also some themes that are more 'viewed' than others. Mystical or fantasy, Egyptian or historical pictures invits more looking than 'the-little-grass-behind-the-garage-of-my-parents' picture. This doesn't mean that your picture of this grass is not a good work, but... ;-) And surely, there is the name under the picture. Lots of renderosity's members are well known for the quality of their works and, in a certain way, all of their pictures is like an event. Take your time, continue the work, and surely you'll create this kind of events... For your thoughts about realism, I think the purpose of creating scenes with vue (and any render program) is not photorealism, but "believablism" (wow !). yes, you can make an unreal scene, 'Attack on Mars', 'Moon Ocean' or 'Fields of Dreams' or 'Salamander in the Sun'. For the two first examples, you must make a scene that people who see it can believe. For the two others, the principal point will be the composition of the picture. But even there, you must not make a 'non-sense'. A source light is a source light. If there is a torch in the left of your scene and all your scene is lighted from the right, there's a problem !!! You must be logical with your scene. In fine, the most important thing, about digital art, and all forms of art is fun ! You must have a good fun when you make pictures. It must not be a hunt for approbation of other users, but a real pleasure. If you have that fun, and if people can feel it in what your produced, fame and glory will become yours... ;-)
Thread: Any French Here? | Forum: Vue
Salut tout le monde (hello everybody !) :-) Well, I agree what Laurent (Agiel) said. Where I live, Marseille, there is a vertical bar, but for the kind of windows you builded, there are only one horizontal bar, instead of the three you made. For more precisions, in buildings, windows are trully taller than large (my windows are approximatively 3,5 meters height for 1,2 large). In house, they are approximatively 1,5 m. X 0,8 m. Pmermino is right : we, french, are opening our windows inside the room. And usually, we have, for building windows, 4 'gonds' (I don't hae the word too) and for house windows, 3. Alekssender, I like your question about 'doors' in front of our windows !!! Yes we are strange people... LoL !!!

Thread: Hi someone have given me a bad comment | Forum: Vue
Well, I've just posted a comment for this picture, and supposed you were just a newbie... now, I've took a look at your gallery and saw you were not ! Oops ! :-) So, now, for you "Pharoh" picture, what's the problem ? You have made lots of great pictures. The ones that know your work know what you are capable of. You have nothing to prove to anyone but to yourself. Did you have fun making this pic ? If so, there's nothing more important. You know, most of us, renderosity's community members, are trying to really take time to consider pictures presented in gallerys to post constructive criticism. But, some of us cannot appreciate certain forms of art. For example, I'm actually an art student. Regulary, we must present our works to our professors. And every student, naturally, wants to know what others students think about his artwork. Me, I've got the problem that I can't appreciate photgraphic art. I don't know why. In first, I hurted some of my friends when I was answering "No, I don't like it." Now, I usually answers : "No, don't ask me that 'cause I dislike photographies." Then, as SamsD and NightVoice said, brush it off. It's not the last stupid criticism you'll see. Go to see 'YL' gallery and look what 'Blowfish' posted on his pictures... :-/
Thread: Really annoyed this time... | Forum: Vue
Did you try to send a mail to E-On ? Eventually, try to send your scene to Steve Bell, he will probably find what's the problem with your settings.

Thread: Material Problem? | Forum: Vue
Yes, audiopod, most of the problems we can have (except bugs)) are the evident little things that we didn't see... And when you see, you want to crush your head on your keyboard :-)

Thread: A Question about Open GL | Forum: Vue
My preference goes to ATI. I've got an old Rage Magnum on my computer and OpenGL works just fine. I saw a Radeon 7500 works and it was OK too. If you have extra bucks, you could try a Radeon 8500 w/ 128 Mo RAM...
