Something to consider. King Kong only had 50,000 polys. The rest was hair and skin shaders. He can laugh, cry, beat his chest, run, jump, fight other nasties and produce in very realist ways a bloody big monkey. The Battlestar Galactica comes in at around 3 and a half million polys. It has a few guns that can go round and point up and down. And it has bits on the side that go in and out. It sits there like a lump, or moves across the screen, like a lump. It kicks Cylon butt, but that is the extent of it.
My point is, if KK only needs 50,000 polys to produce, where are we going wrong when our pet project hits 100,000. Are we looking at the modelling side the wrong way? Are these projects do-able, we are just going about the basics wrong?

On Mars it's more like "Thank Goodness Day. " I left all those idiots back on Earth. No politicians, no(C)rap music, no Happy Bob's car yard commercials. Just peace, quiet, and the ability to fry your brain out with solar radiation.

Turn off the computer and walk away. When you get an idea DON'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. Keep thinking, but do nothing. When the urge is kicking your head in, and you can't stand it any more, then turn on the computer.
I have been know to model for 3 months with almost every day in excess of 6 hours. But I will get to a point where I lose focus. At those times I have to do what I suggested to you.

Private health insurance is a great thing, but sometimes you have to wonder why you are paying.
When my daughter was born we were presented with a bill for $10,009. We took it to the insurance company and they told us it was nothing to do with them, take it to MEDICARE. Medicare is the national health insurer. This in not a one off. My sons hospital visit to get his tonsils out and my wifes gall stone operation produced the same result.
Why am I paying $3000 dollars a year, if my insurance company is only useful for getting me to the top of the waiting list?

*"Politics and art never mix well"
I agree totally. The time spent going to vote cuts into my creative time. *

Been using bryce since the year started with a 1. Love making pure Bryce (no imported anything) pictures. Never use freebies. Can Boolean with the best of them. Am in a long term relationship with the DTE. If I stop now I could probably be made GOD.
BUT.
I use Wings3d and 3D studio Max all the time. Have gone steady with every 3D app ever invented. From Imagine and Real 3D on the Amiga, through to Blender, Modo, and Maya today. I even used Poser until I read the warning stickers, "Repeated use of this product can my make you THINK you have talent." And, "Your I.Q drops (proportional to your artistic talent) every time you press render."
SO.
On that basis I will just have to settle for ((( HERETIC. )))
Note to BRYSTER: I have a letter from my mum saying I can't play in the comfy chair.

An article on BBC radio a few days ago stated Davinci used a lot of experimental techniques and types of paint when he created the picture and many of them failed to last very long. The image is very fragile and has been placed in a enviromentaly contolled container. The problem is super fine dust is getting in and it threatens to form a film on the picture. Because of the efforts being made to conserve the picture the ability to study it has been greatly curtailed, so this image was created.

"The one thing about Bryce is that you need patience...lots and lots of it. " Quote from Bryster.
To have enough patience you need to die, and then have it proven that three people praying to you for a miracle have had their prayers answered.

Forget the courts Bryster. Stick him in the comfy chair for a couple of days with extra throw pillows, a couple of doilies, a comfort blanket and the stay sharp knives. The silk covered handcuffs (Red) with the lace should bump him over the edge.

If more poser images were of this standard I would spend less time rubbishing them. To some extent your test was flawed, because you actually produced something of worth with poser. Your knowledge of light and textures puts you well ahead of the average poser user.

My computer is sitting here without either of its side covers on. The hard drives have one screw holding them in. The sound card has been in my last 3 computers and the video card is about 3 years old. And it is bullet proof. Never misses a beat.
You do realise the above statement has almost certainly condemned me to a high cost system failure under the don't talk too soon clause.

To all those people thinking of purchasing this item, I say go for it. The Bryster is losing his touch. He had me in tne comfy chair recently, but the doctors say I'll be back facing chintz and throw pillows in months. YES ONLY MONTHS. I think he is getting soft in his old age.

How long have you used Bryce?: Bryce 2
What kind of art do you create usually?: Abstract/Sci-fi**.** Or Background plates for photo manipulation.
Would you ever move over to Vue?: No. 3ds Max covers every things I want.
What is your most favourite Bryce art that you have done and why? Galileo 7 is my fave. I love the colours, and the fact nobody has worked out how it was done.

@deadwarrior: I wasn't having a shot and no offence taken. I'm all for people eating people or just licking the chocolate syrup off. My point was once you start talking about POSER the thread can't fall much further.
I hate Poser with a passion. Not the program as such, but its dumbing down of a complete generation of artists. These people don't even realise the PROPS they are using have taken artists, days or even weeks of modelling time to create, texture and rig. They're just props.
My favorites is probably half Poser images. There are people out there that can make the program sing. Brilliant artists creating work as good as anything on the net or in the real world.
BUT, they are the exception. Most will never do more than load props, poses, textures, outfits and sets, and sit back and bask in their equally as talentless friends praise.
OKAY, now I'm off topic. Put it down to much blood in my Booze stream.
