Grand total for me? $0 I really, really wish I could buy some of this great new stuff that's coming out lately, but we don't even have rent this month :( DAMN THESE BILLS for taking my Poser money away! Last purchase was Michael 2.0 upgrade (and the free Stephanie) on the 8th, and a client actually paid for it for me so I could use it in a project I was doing for her. I'm loving Stephanie, though. :)

I don't see any problems here. Image looks fine to me. I haven't experienced this myself. I know some sites have auto-compression software for image uploads, but I've never seen this happen here. I'm at a loss.

Well, I was going to guess Art, but I see Little Dragon already said that. And that seems a little too easy, too. So I'm going to guess "Squirt" for certain reasons. If it's wrong, that's okay, too. :)

They're all great, but I really think Aardvark's dragon is amazing. Oh the work that must have taken!

$30 for textures? I rarely even pay $30 for SKIN textures! Clothing textures are a dime a dozen for free! Oh well, to each his own, I suppose. Some very talented people don't know jack about business, and some untalented, too. :) I have a number of items I'm preparing for the MP, myself, and they are ALL going to be priced under $10. I don't feel I've grown enough as an "artist" to release anything that would be worth more than that, yet. Also, I'm keeping in mind that a great majority of the folks who use Poser are hobbyists, no pros. They can't afford to pay a fortune to support their hobby... and it can be very addictive. I'm sure alot of us (me included) have children and some (not me) will be tempted to even spend money on stuff for their hobby at the sacrifice of buying needs for their kids. Let's hope not many of us are THAT addicted. :) But I'm sure it has happened, as with any addiction. Heck, I'd release my stuff for free, too, if I could afford the bandwidth and didn't need the extra income badly right now. I know that a few people are actually making their whole living doing stuff for DAZ and the MP. But those people are FAR more talented than I. :) I know when I see something quality and of extreme use, I will pay a good price for it. But $30 for clothing textures? I don't care HOW good they are. I'd never pay $30 for clothing textures. Not even if there were 50 DIFFERENT textures included. Of course, I do mostly nudes and hand-painted clothing anyway. Now if I could just get good enough to feel it's worth posting to the gallery...
Thread: About Free Stuff and Commercial Work Regarding Copyrights | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I thought I should clarify a little here. I'm feeling a little animosity towards me and I want to make it aboslutely clear that I was giving this URL for the sake of posters to free stuff, NOT because I was complaining about the people who offer free stuff and pose restrictions! Those who pose restrictions are perfectly within their rights to do so, and I thought I was being helpful in posting this. I thought from the way this article sounds that free stuff contributos who tried to challenge this type of thing in court might face problems because of this. Especially from other people who read this article and decide to use it as their defence. I certainly think that some judges might look at this as meaning the same thing. I highly doubt all judged are versed on internet free stuff policies and netiquette. Melanie, thanks for the link to your stuff. It's all absolutely stunning! Thank you for being so generous with your stuff :)

Hmm, but that's not what the article says. I guess that it is possible that they have to use the exact words "public domain", but it's a gray area. Another quote: "Nothing modern is in the public domain anymore unless the owner explicitly puts it in the public domain(*). Explicitly, as in you have a note from the author/owner saying, "I grant this to the public domain." Those exact words or words very much like them." Words very much like them... To me, "free for non-commercial use" and "public domain for non-commercial use" sound very much alike. They are in effect saying that anyone in the public can use the items, but they are saying that they are restricting it's use to non-commercial only, and the article says they can't do that. That doesn't seem fair, but it's what the article says. Maybe a copyright attorney will happen across this and clarify. It just seems like something that contributors need to be made aware of in case something ever arises with regard to their items and "fair use".
