Fascinating, that shouldn't be happening. The logic of the parenting is that everything should be centred to the right hand and when you move that, all other parented items will follow it. Logical progression should be right hand -> first prop part -> second prop part -> left hand. This should cause the prop to follow the right hand, the second prop part to follow this and the left hand to follow the second parented prop. Exception being in the case of (cr2) props with two defined body parts where the hands would be parented to the prop itself. This results (when IK is on) in the hands/arms following the prop when it is moved. Makes posing a bit more tricky but it works. I'm not entirely certain why the hand on your figure is flying off into the air like that, not having Poser 5 means I can't replicate this and track what's going on. The logic of the parenting process should be the same, the basic architecture of Poser 5 is no different to P4 so it should work. The link Jackson posted does work as I tried it last night though it's a bit more involved when posing the character as it centres on the prop rather than a body part. Sorry Estherau, bit stumped here.

Sorry Estherau first chance I had to get back here, looks like Jackson got the solution for you. It takes a bit of fiddling around but you can get the hands to stay with the prop.

Instead of parenting the weapon to the left hand, parent the left hand to the weapon, that way the left hand should follow the gun around. It works best if the gun has two parts that can't be selected individually. For instance, grip and foregrip or (in this case) magazine/clip. Parent the hand to that, lock the hand pose and it should retain it's position enough that you only need small tweaks to make it look ok. Alternatively what might work if you have seperately parented props. Is leave the right hand parented to the grip, parent the left hand to the secondary prop and parent that prop to the gun. It sounds odd but it can work in some cases.
Thread: Textures when importing .pz3? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
It's been a while, that's for sure, no excuse other than "been busy". :) If you've grabbed the release just out - 0.8.22.6 it should delete files for you. I'm not sure if it kills the previous content, Daz changed a few things with the format so old .daz file won't work in the new build. Poser stuff seems to import fine. I've tried moving geometry objects around and the software flawlessly requests it's location, textures can be a bit more twitchy. If there's a relative path in the pz3 it doesn't mind too much, but if it's set to D:TexturesStuffUglyGit or something it doesn't like it much if that directory doesn't exist and will miss the texture. Other thing I've noticed which may or may not be relevant is that the Studio material room handles things quite differently to P4, and I've imported a couple files that didn't appear to have textures on them. On checking the material assignments they were in the wrong channels. Probably an import error but I've not seen it with the current build. Anyway, good luck with it, hopefully whatever they've done to increase poser file compatibility will work this time round.

Personally I'm not sure what the problem is, I'm not having any trouble importing pz3 files, textures import with them and while specularity, lights and various other settings need to be tweaked considerably it all appears to work. Having said that the previous build to the one released yesterday was a royal mess for me, almost nothing worked untill I deleted the previous install and tried fresh. The current release 0.8.22.6 I think it is, seems to work fine and auto deletes the previous install. Most of the problems I had with the release of last friday aren't in this build.

If you pop along to www.daz3d.com and check out a set of clothing in the New Releases section of the store called MOS Liberators or search for Uzilite you may be unsurprised at the source of inspiration for that set - though it's only available for Mike3 at the moment - enough requests might get one for Vickie. Unfortunately because of restrictions in this forum I can't give you a direct link to it. I'm not even sure anymore whether I can even post an image of the thing. Bloody restrictions here are getting silly.

Hi Numanoid, Sorry it took a while to get back but I've just bought two new workstations and setting up all the software and assorted bits is taking it's toll. No I haven't see the finished powerloader though I'm pleased it came out right, that's great news. :) I also agree with Xantor, it's not necessary to redo the model, most uses will be still image not animation so it's not like it's something that "needs" to be accurate to the original.

I am dreaming if I think anyone will model a uniform like that as a freebie I suspect you might be seeing as there's a version of that armour for sale at Daz. But, you never know.

In the actual movie you never see them using the grenade launcher In the Command Centre sequence when the Aliens break the perimeter two of the marines use the grenade launcher and Hicks demonstrates it to Ripley prior to the facehugger attack in the medlab. The launcher is again used by Ripley in the Queen's Chamber when she destroys the egg sack. The grenade launcher is a 5 shot launcher for impact or timed airburst grenades (similar to ones available to modern military) it works in the same manner as a pump shotgun. The black fore-grip slides back to cock the weapon (for some reason there's an ejector port on the side - probably because it's a hacked up pump shotgun under there) the loader for the launcher is under the grip in the main slide of the launcher. There is a firing trigger for the grenade launcher just in front of the rifle magazine. For the rifle itself, the cocking handle is above the grip and behind the magazine and operated seperately to the grenade launcher.
