How does one make these? Do you just use a program like Photoshop to convert (say) a BMP to an RSR? Thanks! Aaron

Thread: OT: My monitor lied to me now it is dead. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
PJF is correct. It really has very little to do with the monitor, or even any part of the computer hardware/software that isn't the video card. For some reason (and this, by the way, has nothing to do with VRAM), some video cards can only go so far in resolution and color depth. My last video card, a Matrox with only 16MB VRAM, could do 1920x1440 with 32bit color on my 21" monitor; my current card, a TNT2 with 32MB VRAM, can only get to 1600x1200 in 24bit color. In the beginning of this message I said "very little" as opposed to "nothing." The reason for this is that, in some cases, some monitors can actually define max resolution. They don't controll the max color depth, but they can say that the computer can't take it any higher then, for example, 1600x1200. I think this is only really a big deal in LCD monitors, however. At any rate, I wouldn't worry, Anton! Your images look great to me! Although, it's always possible that my eyes are inherently pale! ;) Aaron
Thread: Poser on XP | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey Mark, I also upgraded to XP (from W2K), and I didn't have any problems. Curious Labs will tell you that XP isn't supported in the current version but will be in Poser 5 (not that they flat out tell you that there's a new version coming), but I don't think there are any reported problems. Good luck! Aaron

I totally hear you guys on this one! What a mean, mean problem! I think other than that, though, and the fact that you can no longer select straight MAT files as materials (like the base plant materials), the upgrade is a fine one. Personally, it's a requirement for me, because it's the first version that accepts BUM files properly on my system. Oh well. Aaron

Personally, I think it would be funny if they advertised it for $.04, instead of for free. Maybe that's just me... ;) Aaron

Thank you very much, Eric! I would never have thought of using that fine little utility! In XP, it now updates every day that the computer is on, or you can tell it to update at the current point. But, definitely, I agree with that recommendation - this is one of Microsoft's best ideas ever! Best wishes, Aaron

Thread: View window problem - Has anyone else ever seen this? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, I'm using XP. I guess I could always reformat and start again, but that is seriously not something that I have much time to do right now, and I really don't have the desire either! ;) Thanks again(!), Eric! Aaron
