As for the odious paid-for EL items, those are odious wherever they're offered, regardless of site or vendor. Why? Because the subtext says, "We're going to sell you these items that we're not authorized to make or sell (because, let's face it, if these sites had official licensing arrangements, they would boast of their licensing arrangements and show the requisite official logos!) - And you are going to pay us for these items, and you are not allowed to use these items to make a profit for yourself."Â Yeah! And of course, Richard or Frank would definitely delete my post and send me a nastygram for saying all this - Not that I care. As I said, paid for EL items are odious and I would never buy one. And I did say things like this over their and they did get deleted. >_>

I recall, back before Daz decided DS could be a universal exporter to other softwares, we could get threads closed or deleted by even talking about Blender in a positive light. I suspect Daz might have still thought about maybe updating Carrara beyond 8.5. O course, that never happened and now DS is a universal exporter care of built-in exporters and bridge plug-ins. Times change!

So, since Richard's here, I guess we can talk about him to his face. That's always better. I don't hate you Richard, but we ain't friends. I'm going to leave this snippet here by itself in case it violates any rules.

One is something, thanks. 3 would have been better. That said, you did offer 50% off Prime and I bought it. I like the situation here a lot better from the Prime side. $55 is still too steep for the benefit. The discounted price seemed about right to me. So, thanks for that, too. I'm still going to say $7 is too much $$ for decade old V4 items and $8/item Prime specials aren't very, um, special for the bulk of items in the store. I'll just accept that I'm difficult and wish you a good night.

That's weird. The subject is "Renderosity's Community Newsletter - Exciting News..." and the coupon is at the bottom. The newsletter talks about forum improvements.

only a couple posts in 14 years (I was not the only one in those cases) but there was a whole very active forum section I regularly posted in that disappeared 🤣Hardly anything, except for the whole section that vanished. I see why you're laughing.

That's a simplistic approach to making art. It limits the output to illustration. It would be rude to say that's all DS, poser or any 3D program is good for. It's common enough, but surely not the only way to make 3D art.Product promos motivation is to showcase the product in the best possible light showing the possibilities and functionality.
Artwork generally has a story or narrative that drives the concept of the image. Very different purpose.
Give your art and characters in that art, a motivating purpose and a backstory.

Figures. Doesn't help me this time. This is July. Used to be Prime celebration month and there would be 3 freebies. Guess that's over, too. This is the first time in a long time that the prime freebie wasn't compatible with both programs. Most of the time, it's compatible with both.

@ajmilton Testify! I agree with your assessment.
On the bright side, Prime is half-price right now. That makes the price reasonable again. And if you have enough reward points to buy a GC, you can bring the price down further. I consider this a good time to buy Prime and see what happens. I did it. It could be a one-time thing. I'll say, though, don't rely on the Prime freebie to brighten a DS user's day (or maybe anyone's day, really) - It's just a La Femme hat. No wonder they keep it secret. >_> Then again, IME, Prime freebies have never been much to brag about.
The per-dollar reward points and sale prices have been the biggest draws. Even the coupons have limited use when many vendors won;t take a coupon. Even so, I've noticed recent sales where the Big Deal was $8 items - Not really my idea of a bargain. $4 would be a lot more inviting.
Oh well. Prime or not, try harder Rendo. Try harder!

They're not timed to the 1st of the month. The current coupon is in the 6/20 rendo newsletter and is good 'til 7/19
