Quote - I know. I first thought you could zoom out a bit and grab one of the handles but you can't even do that. Craig said they're working on it and the fix is on the way.....soon :)
Yes, I talk with Ringo Monfort yesterday and he confirms the so. I think the problem cames out after the "Vertex Modeler units and Assembly room units match in Medium and Large Scene Magnitude" was fixed.

Quote - They are aware of the manipulator problem and the bug has already been assigned. Lot's of good fixes in this one for sure.
Thanks God! Because is almost impossible work on Vertex Modeler with this issue... :P

Quote - ...Has anyone noticed that the manipulator in the ortho views of the vertex modeler are huge and you can't even grab the handles? I'm on PC btw.
I have noticed it. And they fixed the problem with the smooth vertex object with creased edges too.

I made another animation, now with the arm. The feathers overlaping still bothering me, but I think we are on the right path. ;)
Check it out this site. Sweet! :D

I agree with Brian, this last one is much better!
Well, I found an interesting site, maybe this one could help us to understand the fold/unfold wing system without touching dead birds... ;)
Cheers!

Very cool scene, OP! I love the underwater enviroment. Did you use the fog primitive or clouds to create de atmosphere? I suggest some caustics map at the light cones gel. ;)
Here's the first try with the bird wings:
The wing has 3 morphs, at three sections of feathers: tip, middle and shoulder. I see some overlaping on the feathers, but I thiks it looks ok. I'll try with the arm, now. Let's see what I get. :)
Congratulations again for your nice job!

No, no morphs at the bat wings. Just bones. ;)
I see the Noggin's 'Real Makaw' Bird Model from DAZD, and I like the way as the wings fold and unfold. I'm pretty sure they're using more morphs instead bones at this one. Btw, nice model! :)

You're welcome, OP. But I can't see the image.
I'm developing a wing tutorial, in portuguese (for now, hosted at my good friend GKDantas's Carrara Forum) about bat/dragon wings. They fold and unfold perfectly. You can see it in action at my YouTube page:
I'm trying to create the same with feathered wings, but it's a hard thing. You need a complex bones behavior or a delicate morph on it, moving feather by feather. Anyway, let's join our fantastic brains together and solve this crap. ;)
Cheers!
(P.S. The English version of the complete tutorial we will post at the DAZ ArtZone very soon...)

Another link. Using feathers with surfce replicator:

There's a link on the post with the .car file too. Be my guest to download it, if you like. ;)

Quote - ...I have to go out into the street gutters every so often to recover my body fluids!
It comes back into the house as a bottle of South Australian Coopers Extra Stout...
That's the World now. Even the weather going nuts! ;)
I'm thinking about particles to create the "splashing" on the waves. Using the surface replicator, at the ocean primitive. What do you think?

Thank you, Brian!
Sure, you can download the .cbr here:
The .car file you can get here:
The cool thing about this shader is, you can play around with the Color Channel, at the Gradient Color, to create the foam's amount, depending the size of your ocean primitive. Just it! Don't needs to touch at the other channels. ;)
Keep us updated about your progress.

My version (.avi file, 2MB, needs XViD codec):

I made it without plugins. Looks fine in a still image, but doesn't in animation. Keep trying...

With all those "hair fixes" and whatever, they didn't fix an important feature of the bones system IMHO: the "restore element", just like in Poser. Carrara 3 system has it, I don't know why they change it. Now you must select the MESH to restore the BONES!!! It's stupid! Sometimes you need restore a hand, an eye or any other part of the figure, and you miss some difficult pose restoring all the skeleton. Maybe in Carrara 7...
Thread: No ground shadow with HDRI? | Forum: Carrara
Quote - yep, I gotta admit it's a tricky problem. if the only object in the scene is the reflecting sphere,
and there's an hdri background but no ground plane, there's nothing on which to apply the
shadow catcher shader.
You must create a Infinite Plane or Plane object then apply the shadow catcher on it.
