Thread: rendering on a network? | Forum: Carrara
Net work rendering works great in Bryce on Mac OS X. It is certainly not as sophisticated a program as Carrara. So asking for network rendering should not be beyond the scope of the programmers.
Thread: 3ds tree exports (C 3.03) | Forum: Carrara
When I export an object I export the object to a new folder. That way the maps and everything are in one place. I have no idea why your models import gray. But you can find the maps if you place everything together in one spot. The export should include the maps and the object, and most likely a materials file.

Well done... Makes it look like we are all attending a conference somewhere with a fancy entrance sculpture. Truly fitting of the spirit of the Carrara Forum
Thread: Carrara Vs Bryce | Forum: Carrara
Hands down, you need both tools along with poser. A paint program is also highly recommeded. The more tools you have the more options you have. My aresenal contains every version of bryce, painter, RDS, Carrara. The freebie modelers from alias, cinema, and strata. Poser 4 through pro and 5. Many many others. Its expensive but well worth the investment to get as many of the tools as you can. If you are lucky enough to have a lab full of computers Bryce 5 lightning makes rendering movies or scenes really fast. Would love to see Carrara beat that!
Thread: Callout for tutorial suggestions. | Forum: Carrara
How about some tutorials on using dynamic lofting, extruding etc in the vertex modeler. The manual just does not do a very good job of explaining precisely how to use these tools.
Thread: Directional Force & Physics | Forum: Carrara
not sure but it might be in the physics settings. Look at the initial velocity settings and all of that to see which axis is being affected. I wonder if the position of the physics tool in the scene is a factor . Maybe position it directly above the object.
Thread: Long way out for a wind swept tree...License? | Forum: Carrara
The tree primitives can be manipulated as a vetex object and then they most certainly can be exported. I have done it. I take them into bryce becasue I enjoy Bryces sky editor much more than cararra's. In C3 its just too much work trying to get a nice sky. What I discovered is that the trees exported from C3 through poser and into Bryce, is that the trees from C3 appear to render quicker than the preset trees in Bryce. They are far more sparse though.
Thread: Free Jessica Rabbit Dress Textures | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Now I'll have to buy V3. Poser 5 comes in in a few days. That dress and texture are great.
Thread: Victoria 2 eyebrow problem | Forum: Carrara
This is a helpful tutorial the cover-all layer is the key or appears to be. The problem for me on a mac with V2 is that I can have two sets of eyebrows. eyebrows and uppereyebrows. I am going to assume that I set both channels(materials etc) up the same. Will experiment when I get time. Is there some way to group those eyebrows together in poser since I can't use grouper? That tool in poser is awfully confusing though. Thanks for the reply and the link it helps in the great experiment and learning process.
Thread: The trouble with Victoria's eyebrows | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks I just found the beginners tips. I guess its best to set the brows to begone. I was trying a transparency map I had made. Just could not get it to work. I guess I need to start with a really good texture map on the upperbrows and continue tweeking the trans.Fustrating! How appropriate... I guess therapy is what I was really seeking. Sorry for venting here ladies and gentlemen.
Thread: selecting specific vertices/points | Forum: Carrara
Ok, now how would you select a vetice or point inside a model? or a group in one area and another group somewhere else. Should I be naming the vetices and use the tray to select them?

Thread: Texture Map Tips | Forum: Carrara
Uv mapper works just fine on a mac. Unlike Twillis I never save as an object I export and import the new obj after UV-ing it, and have had few problems.
