You can do this in Bryce via my Pepper's Ghost technique. I'm having trouble putting together a host for the tutorial at the moment, but if you email me or IM me with your email address, I will be glad to send the tutorial to anyone who needs it. PS: There is no setting that I could find that gets rid of the "X-Ray" transparency effect in Poser or Bryce. Because Poser does not have an external mesh only option, the internal meshes reflect when made transparent. For Poser only, unless you can find a standard glass material, Photoshop is probably your only hope as Jackson said. Micheleh, cool stuff to know... To TravisB, I may be a little late in my support, but it sounds like a great idea to have a modelling forum. I wuld love to learn new modeling techniques and such from masters and fellow artists. I also agree that Creature is probably too limited, since much modeling isn't creature oriented. The archive from such a venture would be a great resource as well. Count me in for support of this idea...

Oh man, I'm sick now... :) That one with the Beret is probably the best model I've ever seen. I would swear in a court of law that that was a photograph...Awesome stuff...Thanks for finding it...

Only one change...Whoopi doesn't have eyebrows...Otherwise, not bad... As to the Victoria 2.0 legal thing, check the FAQ on Daz3D's site about how to distribute morphs/textures without getting the legal eagles swooping down on you.
Thread: What is art...or better yet what do you think art is.... | Forum: Bryce
In the two months I've been on Renderosity, I've seen this discussion surface many times. What is art? Is the Amazing Stick Boy art? Art is art. Period. It's creative expression. Art is done, not just to create emotion in the viewer, but satisfaction in the artist. Satisfaction that they created something, an escape from their lives. There is nothing more satisfying than having someone comment on your work, to acknowledge it. Granted, not everyone is Leonardo DaVinci, but their art is no less valid if it has served it's purpose. Whether it moves the viewer or not, is strictly relative anyway. There was an artwork at a local gallery where there were two strips of different color on a white canvas. Probably took the artist 5 minutes. However, add a dash of story to it (the struggle of the colors of man) and right away it's sellable art. To me, it's just two lines on a canvas. Then there is the "art" of the monkey and elephant that sells for $5000 a piece. Art is what is seen by whoever wants to see it. Some see it as two lines, others as ingenius. Who's to say which is right? As long as you brought up the issue, I've seen some say that Poser, Bryce and other digital mediums can't be art, because all they are are pushing buttons and placing objects and I take great offense to that. These are tools, just as a brush is a tool, a tool to get your ideas into the media of your choice. How you got there, should be irrelevant. Of course, some would say that brush artists are more talented. Well, I think the digital artistry of many here would disprove that. A tool in a msster's hand, will result in a master's work, no matter what the media. Besides, those that put down Poser, Bryce, LightWave, Maya, etc, etc, have probably never worked with these programs to know that they are just as difficult to put together a scene that looks realistic (or abstract) as their canvas counterparts. As to the top 20, I have to agree that it's a shame that many masterful artworks don't ever reach there, but the top 20 is more of a glimpse into what "sells." And sex and nudity sell everytime, over a landscape, etc. However, quality artwork is rewarded in other ways, not the least of which is reputation. Besides, most Renderosity members I've talked to usually use the What's New rather than the top 20 that they know is skewed. Getting off soapbox now...
Thread: My opinion on Bryce 5 | Forum: Bryce
Windows has a tendency to drop memory in all sorts of different programs. I get crashes in normally stable programs if I have had the system running for awhile without rebooting. Also some programs use up more resources that 3d programs thrive on. Winamp seems to be one such program, at least on mine. I only have the test version (mine is coming Tuesday), but so far it hasn't crashed on me. I did notice when saving, that after it saves, it seems to lock up for several seconds, but it's not really locked up. It comes back and works fine, so I'm not sure what that is. I haven't had any trouble with the .3ds files.
Thread: Bryce 5 upgrade and a few questions. | Forum: Bryce
I have a Pentium 3-933 and it was 20 minutes to render my latest picture (in the trial version while I wait for Corel's shipment), though if I zoomed in on any part, it took much longer which I'm not sure why). Anyway, it was the anti-aliasing that killed me. Even on the simplest setting, it seemed to take forever. There is an optimization setting in render options that if you set to Aggressive seems to speed things up. It does seem to be significantly slower than Bryce 4. It would be interesting to see how long Bryce 4 would take, but I don't think you can load a .br5 file into Bryce 4 (can you?)
Thread: Bryce 5 faults :: who to send Bryce suggestions to? | Forum: Bryce
Well I haven't experimented in Bryce 5 with most of what you mention here, but as to number 2, it's the way the object is exported I believe. I just recently imported a whole bunch of figures/props into Bryce 5 from various sources including Poser. While I can't speak for the other programs, when exporting from Poser, make sure you have the first box checked in the export options (Include Body Part Names in Polygon Groups). This will allow Bryce to properly put in the names in the Mesh list.
