The geometry on her left eye is the reverse of her right. So you can't use the same reflection map in both eyes. Use a grpahics editor to make a second copy of the reflection map and horizontally flip it, then use that modified map in the left eye reflection.

Hey Opera - don't sweat on the script thing - use what ever works for you... Pls keep us up to date on how you go with this animation quest you are on. Seems to be a side of the product that doesn't get a lot of exposure.

Outstanding Opera. Very flowing animation. My only crit is that she moved maybe a tad smoothly - people are a little more jerky. Her animated hair is outstanding. Well done.

Wow - impressive Tromnek. I haven't got a chance to play with it in the short-term (heading away for a bit), but will have a look when I get back. Hopefully John will have had a chance to check it out by then.

Ooooops - my mistake.
Ok, plug the texturemap into value_2 of a math_functions node (with the value at 1). Set value_1 to 1 and the arguement to Subtract. Or if you are plugging the texturemap directly into the bump map, set the bump value to negative (thanks to Jepe for this one!).

Freebass, I think there is an even simpler way....Just plug your texturemap node into value_1 of a math_functions node, make the arguement add, and value_2 = 0. Color_Maths nodes are effectively 3 math_functions nodes (a node for each color). So plugging any color (including a texturemap) into a math_functions node converts it to b&w. Opera, if you plug the texturemap into the bump plug, it automatically converts it to b&w for you.

Thread: COM with Poser 5? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Interesting idea. I got the feeling that python ran within the P4PP/P5 environment in isolation of other python installs - so it can only use the libraries that get shipped with Poser. So it could prove tricky. Maybe direct your question over in the Poser Python forum.

Good question tromnek. It depends how many figures are in the scene. If there is more than one figure, then only reading the final 1 Meg might not work. You'd need to do some experimenting.

Thread: Shader Challenge (non flesh): Ajax and Stewer & others... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well for the same reason sss is a challenge in the P5 node system, I think a dirtmap shader would be very difficult. The main issue is that in the mat room, you build a network for a single pixel - and that pixel doesn't know about any other pixel (so it doesn't know if it's next to a pixel where the normals cross). An option would be to build a python script to run through the geometry and build a "dirt" map (as a jpg), that could then be incorporated as a map in the mat room. Another option would be to export the model to another package - back the dirtmap to a jpg, and import back into P5.

Cath, I've taken a lot of time and effort to help you. Obviously this is not appeciated, so I'll leave you to it.

Cath, attached is a render using your ear back-lighting technique (although using diffuse rather than translucence). The top image is with 2 lights (one front, and one back). The lower image uses just the backlight. Both images created by plugging an extra 2 nodes into the HyperReal system. Works a treat - thanks.

"If you want to get the front-facing sss, use the velvet node to get the tiny hairy effect like on the human skin. I like your renders and can see what you used for rendering but this is hard to get the same effect in Poser5." OK, I'm not absolutely sure what you are saying here....but to clarify, I'm not using the velvet node (couldn't get it to give realistic enough results) - I'm using other techniques - which are detailed in the tutorial. I render in P5, so I'm not sure what you mean by "is hard to get the same effect in Poser5".
