How do you suggest one evaluates a potential purchase?

One either takes a risk, believing at least some of the vendor's publicity, and makes the purchase or one wais for feeback from others that have taken the risk, before deciding to go ahead.

If everyone adopted the second approach, nobody would ever buy aything as noone would take the first step.

But then there are always those who are happy to sit on the sideline, glaoting at the misfortune of others.

To be fair to e-frontier, I just got an e-mail saying that their serial recognition software has had a problem but is ok now. What's more I've finally had my serial accepted!

I have applied for the upgrade many times, each time the server tells me that my serial number is incorrect -Yet I have a receipt from e-frontier confirming that serial number!

I have e-mailed e-frontier without response. If the quality of the upgrade matches the quality of their customer service, it should be a hugely underwhelming release!

Your position is pretty much the same as mine - if I could run Poser in Linux, I'd say goodbye to WInsux for ever.

Speaking to someone who has tried to load Poser 6 with Wine, hea says that many of the icons don't appear, which makes it unuseable.

Oh well, one day maybe....

Is Miki still considered to be a minor, and therefore no nude pics allowed?

If so, this may be why people are bringing out caucasian characters with her - she immediately appears old enough to satisfy Renderosity's absurd pronouncement.

You could install a memory defragger like FreeRam XP Pro. It allows you to reclaim memory after Poser leakages (and any other prog for that matter)

Works for me, and it's free!

I've had XP Pro SP2 on 3 machines and have had to take it off again - too many .dll errors. I'd remove it and go back to SP1 if it were me.

In http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=1120890, the floor and back wall are single sided squares - the blue outline around the reflection on the back wall was done by simply placing a blue spot light in front of the characters.

BTW, SP2 for P6 makes reflections a lot easier to do.

I've attached the settings that are now my default presets for Poser 6. The bucket size may be a little large for some people, but I do have 1.5 Gig of RAM. The general rule is to use the biggest bucket size you can in order to get as quick a render as possible. I do alter these settings as necessary, depending on the pic, but they are my starting point.
