Great answer! I chose the Canon because I found it easiest to use and "understood" it better. The little points in the viewfinder just seemed more logical than a few circles.

Don't ask me! I have a Canon and wouldn't have it any other way. By the way, Pop Photo ran an article on the crop factor and found that the 20D actually outperformed either the 1Ds Mark II or the 1D Mark II in telephoto clarity. It doesn't get better than that!

I'm not sure very many compact cameras even have physical viewfinders anymore. Some look like they do but some just have a tiny screen in there.

I think I used F/8 and held the shutter open with a cable release for however many fireworks I wanted in the picture. I listened for the launch and opened the shutter so I it would be open during the moment it exploded.

If you haven't, you should check mine out in the post right before this one. Mine are all brilliant color. and closer. The lauch site was less than 150 meters away. BTW, B&W is pretty neat looking, but color is definitely the way to go. Good job.

That's really nice. I was going to a football(American style) game and there were three thunderheads on the horizon. I immediately knew where George Lucas got his inspiration for the star destroyers in Star Wars. It looked like a small fleet of them on the horizon with the pointy end in front and the blunt end in back.
