Thanks so much. Now I can stop banging my head against getting the pp2 to recognize IK chains :) It's kind of a tail thingy, so it has a lot of pieces and 90 degree plus bends. Though I think I'll use the morphing for another part. Thanks again, Bruce

Ah! I figured Squiggley Dagger didn't sound to threatening :) Glad you liked the shield. I actually started thinking that perhaps the 'Spikeyness' should have been a morph target. Sometimes I hate hindsite :) On the other hand, if you never have any, then maybe you're brains not turned on :) Bruce
Thread: Writing Mac version of MTMirror -- Do all .OBJs have origin in object center? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's definately not a given as far as OBJ's go. As for these particular models, I suppose it would make sense fro ZYgote to make one half then mirror it. Just because they mirror in the x direction, they certainaly don't in the other's. Not familar with this program or what it does, but I would suggest at least giving an option for the user to specify the mirroring values themselves. Plus perhaps a transformation/rotation set prior to that. Many models come in many different orientations, and that's completely at the whim of whoever made them. So they could really be anywhere, although in general people do tend to keep them near the origin. Bruce

Ah. I changed the link and see what you mean. At least that's a little better than a 404 message. If people are accustomed to that, then maybe I should leave it. Strange it worked directly from the Preview screen, but maybe I just got lucky.

Which Browser? I'm using Netscape and never noticed this. At first I thought maybe it let because I was still logged in from uploading, but tried them all again and never got anything similar. I found out one of the BizLand things was because of limited support for GetRight and GoZilla. Bruce

?Which ones? I just uploaded and tested the new/upcoming Poser stuff 20 minutes ago and everything worked. Then I changed the zip links on the Bizland site to point to the old one, and that worked as well. Unless you mean the links to the What'sNew and Poser sections don't exist there, which they don't :) Use the BizLand site for browsing, but when you click on one the Prop zips, it will get it from Geocities instead. but this is the 'unlinked' Poser page at GeoCities that is basically the updated layout that I will post to the BizLand site once things get straightened out. http://www.geocities.com/dke01/upzr.htm Boy. This is getting to be a real soap opera :) Can't even GIVE things away without someone turning on the fan :) Bruce

Well, it's an ongoing discussion :) Apparently now they do, and that had something to do with embedded mp3's. So not sure if maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anyways, I'm going to revise the links to point back at my old site until the whole situation get's cleared up. They are quite quick at replying, so hopefully the underlying problem will be solved shortly, but in the meantime I'll use the older site for any direct links.

Well you, (and everybody else who was kind enough to say the same,) are very welcome! More to come pretty shortly. In fact it's up already, but don't tell anybody :) http://meshtools3d.bizland.com/pzprops.htm I'm just having a TERRIBLE time getting consistent download access to the site, and much to my amazment, (and after a long email conversation,) I've been informed they don't actually support zip files! Go figure! But just for the kind comments from all of you, here's a sneak preview. I'll make an official posting once the dl thing gets sorted out, but in the meantime time it's a bit of a hit and miss proposition. So don't tell to many people ok :) Bruce

Ummm... Now that you mention it, pretty much exactly the same! I used the bending routines instead of curvature, but I wouldn't wish trying to figure that out on anybody at the moment :) I think it would be nicer to make a multi-part one like a tail, and then you could use the Poser bending stuff to curve it around how you wanted. A bit out of my reach of my ability at the moment though :) Hey! I thought you said you didn't read that documentation stuff :) Bruce

Yeah, noticed about the save problem. Also seems to muck about creating rsr/resource files, and then won't let go of them (or access the changed obj,) unless you quit! :) Sheesh, I had about 23 copies of the countinuing revisions to a 2MB obj before I finally decided that was enough. Took me a half an hour just to throw away all the extra copies :) Ah well. Now I have some tempting ideas for utilities to help with this modeling/trying process. :) Bruce
Thread: Replacement body parts using external OBJ? | Forum: Poser Technical
Just signed up there earlier today, so will look around for the tutorial. Lot's of other interesting stuff there as well. Actually got it to read two separate obj files, so next try going for all four replacement parts for the torso. Messes it up when/if you save it to a new cr2, so still missing something. Pretty sure I missed the bottom section. But at least it can just read them, so don't have to go back and import/place/replace them every time I change one piece. Bruce
Thread: Best layout for sharing Props? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Glad you like it. Was going to try shoe-horning 2 props into the same pp2, but got side-tracked trying to make cr2's read from more than one obj (but that's another topic in the PoserTech section :) ) Will watch for the normals and see if I can get it posted over the weekend. Better at least do some actual work once in a while :) Thanks again for the suggestions Bruce

Ah, thanks so much. I'll give that a try plus add the second horn. Saw the update offer but unfortunately my wife said "NO MORE TOYS RIGHT NOW!" and the dish ran away with the credit card... :) Hopefully not too long though, especially with the ProPack coming soon.
Thread: DMesh - New "Using with Poser" section | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Importing other 3D file types is high on the list. Especially now that I have begun using Poser and trying to get the DMesh models to fit around Poser ones, and it would be SO much easier to import a Poser model and then draw some clothes around them. So the OBJ import is high on the list, but there are some technical details I have to reconcile. DMesh does all it's modeling in unit uv space, and getting it to deal with the Poser way of looking at things will take a bit of thinking. Once I figure out how best to approach the issue, the rest shouldn't be too hard since the file format is fairly straight forward. Two ways to zoom the 3D Preview. Click on the panning toolbar item, then shift-click-drag to zoom. Three-button mouse user's can instead use center-click and drag. Alternatively, if the rotate toolbar item is you can Ctrl-Shift-click-drag :) Not as complicated as it sounds. Use the left button to rotate x or y, plus hold the shift to rotate z. Used with the ctrl key, the above options instead pan in the x,y and z directions. For 3-button mouse user's, the center drag was added as a alternative to holding down the shift key. As a short aside note, the appendix of the manual has a list of all the Keyboard and Mouse commands for each window. :) I know people don't like reading those, but it might be worth looking at just those three pages :) Bruce
