Number 6 should have read Use "Shift" + "Delete" keys together. I accidently put Less-Than-Sign and Greater-Than-Sign, which I guess got confused with HTML.

Regarding can't delete an empty folder till delete. I assume you have not disabled the indexing service. THis should work from Windows 95 to XP. Sometimes Windows Explorer or the Indexing service get confused. 1) Press the "Windows Key", near bottom left of keyboard, and the "R" keys together 2) Type "CMD" or "Command" (one or the other will work) net stop "indexing service" exit (don't worry it's temporary, and we'll restart it later) 3) Press the "Windows key" plus "E". You should have two "panes". On the left is the "folder pane". Click (left-click) on the hard drive (not any folder). 4) Use View...Refresh or the "F5" key to force a refresh. 5) Click (left-click) on the folder you want to delete 6) Use + keys together. This will delete the folder instead of moving it to the recycle bin. 7) Press the "Windows Key", near bottom left of keyboard, and the "R" keys together 8) Type "CMD" or "Command" (one or the other will work) net start "indexing service" exit

The spanning is also helpful for putting multiple GB files on CD's. I know it's a bit antiquated, but almost all PC's can read a CDR's; you can't say the same for DVD's.
Thread: Can Victoria be a Barbie Doll ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Maybe I'm opening a can of worms, but I'm sure everyone's heard this one: "what would Barbie's bust size be if she were an adult female?" It's interesting that no one can come up with a definite irrefutable figures. I've seen everything from 35-23-32 (5'9") to 42-18-33 inch (5'6"). I know Barbie figure has changed over the years, and varies even by region (the Asian model is less curvy). I'm not siding on any side of the issue. Just pointing out how math is not always as empirical as it should be.

Generally with a multi-part compressed file, all files should be in one directory. If you got only one file in your directory, you are probably missing one or more files. They'll be one "master" file, and one or more "chunks", for lack of better names. For PKZIP / WinZip, the master file will have a "zip" extension, and the chunk files will be "z01", "z02", ... They should all be in one directory. In every case I've seen you start (double-click) the "master" file. It knows it's a multi-part file, and will automatically look for the related chunks in the same directory. If it's a multi-part file, and it can't find it's related "chunk" files, it generally will give you an error message. You can force it to go ahead usually, but you'll be missing files.

The indexing service rarely makes searches faster, but slows down your PC every time a file that's being indexed is changed. Unless you're spending 90% of your time searching, and rarely adding / deleting / modifying files, I think it's not worth it. It also sucks up RAM that could be better used. I've got a set of "old eyes" also, and I hate pointless effects on my computer. I believe it reduces productivity as you have to wait a second every time you click on pretty much anything in XP. Still some people like XP's interface; others call it "candy-apple" / "tinker-toy." Gimme the classic Windows98 look anyday.

Quick tips: To see current RAM usage, click and look under the "Performance" tab of the task manager. For you uber-nerds, a company called Sysinternals makes some of the best utilities for monitoring PC's; many are free. (link)Thread: Windows XP tip, may help some P6 users | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Good tips rdf. I'd guess anyone disabling their paging executive would already know about disabling the pointless video effects of XP. If anyone wants to see some articles discussing more advanced XP topics, may I suggest TweakXP. (linked) Though technically it's not really tweaking XP, I'd also recommend www.tomshardware.com . It has pretty unbiased coverage of all things PC hardware related. As usual, make sure you've got a good backup before experimenting. The tweak mentioned here are safe, but other more advanced tweaks could results in a non-working PC.Thread: Poser and cooling: a question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

A company called Zalman out of Korea makes many products to let your computer run quiet. Someone mentioned watercooling. Some watercooling systems can be actually louder than a out-of the-box Intel fan. I've seen one with *three* fan. The Reserator, water-cooled fanless CPU cooler, is impressive, and whisper quiet. I use this one, and it was very easy to install. The hardest part was finding distilled water. The downsides are it's not very portable, and it's expensive. Check out Zalman's wild "TNN 500AF- The world's first truly noiseless high-end computer case" Possibly the most expensive PC case available.Thread: PhilC or Kamilche, out of curiousity... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If Poser fixed current bugs and got rid of the busy non-standard interface, I'd be happy.
Thread: "Conform to..." jumps to knees / head | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In my very simple case, it's a new scene, no other characters, and the bald V3 figure is not modified in any way. Granted I get a lot of V3 "freebie" clothes; some conform work fine, others don't. I noticed some clothes are pretty picky about the figures. I think DAZ has "V3 blank" and "V3 SR1." Same with the millennium kids, where there's a couple named similarly. Thanks Nerd3d about the tip on shoes. This is a source of aggravation. Love your work by the way.
Thread: Chains / ropes props, and the dynamic cloth room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello Ajax: It's not intended as a slight on your many products. I tried the freebie "EP Tube" and one of your commercial products I believe. The "node" dials affecting the entire character never made an appearance. I could only adjust a single segment at a time. I use Poser5. I didn't fully investigate the problem, just chalked it up to "works for some, but not for me." I was hoping to create a perfect cantilevered curve between two unique X,Y,Z points, like a chain hanging between two uneven surfaces. Sounds easy, but I could never get the knack. Cheers

I think I followed you up to "let it drape over the figure", but you lost me after that. If you've got a good cloth simulation, why would you spawn props? Cheers
