Quote - Funny how it doesn't affect any of the other Gen4 figures in the same way, I've not read any complaints about V4 having this scaling problem.
Actually it does, Girl 4 has scaling for her feet and hands and the same thing occurs if you use boots or gloves on her with scaling on. you will also find that the same issues occur with Apollo maximus and clothing for him when you use his age scaling options. the reason you don't hear about this problem for other gen 4 figures is that they don't use scaling in conjunction with their morphs like F4 does.

the multiple mat zones are for second skin materials, basically so that if you want to apply materials directly to the figure to mimic clothing rather than actually apply conforming or dynamic clothing you can do so easily while still using character materials as well. You might want to do this if say you wanted to apply stockings to the figure, or other tight fitting clothing, or perhaps you are doing a crowd scene and dont want the added polys of actual clothing on background figures, second skin clothing would be fine.
With the advent of newer node based materials, with layering maps, and the ability to mask specular, reflection, and other maps the necessity for all these extra zones is not as great, though they are still very useful for certain things, particularly transparency which you wouldn't want to apply to the whole head just to add it for the eyelashes or eyes, as transparency really adversely effects raytraced rendering effects.
Thread: Why Does Clothing FB morphes not work? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Letterworks is correct, it is important to have the base figure selected when loading superconforming clothing, once that is done the master morph dials no longer work in the clothing because they are controlled by the morphs in the base figure.
Thread: Ahhhhhh Freak out! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
phantom3D IÂ think you are way off base with your accusations. the only scaling problem that the freak has in poser is with clothing, which is a known bug with poser scaling, something that DAZÂ has publicly stated is the issue something that the makers of poser have always admitted was a problem in poser, and you admit that problem yourself, so why do you insist there is another scaling issue that DAZÂ is not telling people about? Why all this talk of DAZÂ doing it wrong, please show us a way that a figure with scaled bodyparts can work properly with conforming clothing in poser.

Quote - wdupre:Â IÂ agree with everything you said. That's the direction I'm going, and if you'd prefer a different direction, you're very welcome to take the figure and give her a rigging more to your taste.
Poser - realistic bending - ease of use. Pick any two.
Edit:Â That said, if you have any suggestions as how to improve the bends pre-JCM, I'm happy to hear them. phantom3D did most of the rigging. He's one of the best riggers for Poser figures IÂ know, and IÂ wouldn't dream of correcting his work. But if you have any particular ideas that sound promising, I might give them a try.
No worries, IÂ figured IÂ would give my input from a content creator's point of view, not knowing if anyone has actually assessed the figure based on how easily it could be supported yet.
as far as any rigging suggestions IÂ will take a look as time permits and see if there is anything that catches my eye.

IÂ applaud your work, its great that someone is tackling an independent figure, but IÂ have some serious reservations about one of the directions you are going.
I took a look at this figure for the first time today, with a mind to how easy it would be to create conforming clothing for, and no offense but it's going to be a nightmare. The JCM work hides a lot of the bending flaws but that's the major problem, you relied heavily on morphs to optimize the joints, and the amount of sculpting you used in those jcms is massive. for clothing to work it needs to share the skeleton, so it's going to share those same bending flaws, and is going to need the same amount of massive resculpting to get it to work on the figure and look smooth. Than when you get into matching full body morphs it becomes even more of a nightmare, because calculating the directions those deltas go with both the JCM and the full body morph and getting the clothing to bend in the same way with the FBMs will be torturous. It's doable I'm sure with MLP and reverse deformations and a lot of patience but it won't be easy.

Quote - > Quote - > Quote - They did publish a Disclaimer about the new "Freak 4" not being fully compatible with poser.
but honestly he is made for use in D/S so im not surprised.
Cheers
That's not good to hear as I was planning to get it at some point, now I don't think I'll bother at all unless they fix the Poser compatibility problems & I don't see it as a Smith Micro Poser problem, if Daz are selling something that's supposed to work in Poser THEY (daz) should make it work.
They won't fix it. Smith Micro probably will fix their scaling issues, (whatever that means).
I swear I don't get it though. I had no issues at all with Freak 4 in Poser.  Maybe it's just when you want him to be a giant compared to V4 and M4, he won't grow. ...??...ÂIndi.
The problem is that while poser will scale the base figure ok, it has a problem scaling conformers, it basically ignores the centerpoint of joints in the scaling process so when you scale the figure up while it also scales the clothing it leaves the centerpoint where it was at the original scale so go to bend a joint and the clothing joint bends in a totally different place than it should. This is not something that DAZ can fix in the figure it is only something that the makers of poser can fix in their program, and if they do it will help not only with the freak 4 but will allow all figures to be scaled and have their clothing scale with them.

the actual benefit of EXP is that any one of the cr2s can act as the primary as they all load with all the blank channels that have been installed, so any one of them can be loaded with any morph of the others (the females and males are of course separate but even the opposite sexes can load the other's morphs with a bit of file editing). As far as what figures you need in your figures library, all you actually need are V4.2 and M4, those figures will load all the morphs for the others. the only thing that A4, G4, H4, and F4 give you is figures that automatically load their own morphs and have their primary morph set to 100%,
Thread: Help with Tweeking Clothing | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
ok with shorts like that you actually need the buttock group more than you need the thigh group, the reason its breaking off on the right is becouse the thigh group cant effect the hip group at all, so there is no influence of the thigh on the hip. personally I would group both sides all buttock. as far as the effect in the rear that has to do with deft control of inner and outer falloff spheres right now you have the inner (green) controlling the area too strongly you need to back off on that a bit and make the outer (Red) blend the falloff area into the area that doesn't move a lot more. rigging pants in the crotch and buttock area is the trickiest part of rigging because you have so many groups overlapping each other as far as falloffs are concerned.
Thread: P8 converting morphs from LR Alyson figure to HR Alyson figure - HELP! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually it is easier to create morphs in a low res figure, less points to move around means smoother results particularly in the high res, and if you start with the high res there is no way to convert to the low res, Unfortunately even if the high res figure is a sub-d of the low res figure which IÂ assume it is, that still does not mean that you will end up with a successful morph by simply converting the sub-d because each modeler has a different way of converting point order so you would likely need the precise modeler that the originals were converted in. than the next problem is, was the figure split? if it was was it done before or after the high res figure was created IÂ would assume after otherwise their would be gaps in the mesh, that causes more possible vertex order changes particularly if it was poser that did the splitting.

ok IÂ apologize I see that richard did post a warning in the thread for others to stop with the OTÂ posts, so obviously he was aware of it so no need to report but I think the thread should be reviewed and I will ask them to do so.
Thread: Not Feeling the Love in the DAZ Forum lately | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
No offense EClark1894, and I know we don't exactly see eye to eye on some things. but did you consider reporting the OT posts in your freebie thread rather than coming here to complain? The DAZ moderators can't do anything about the problem unless they know about it, and i certainly think it would be fair for you to ask for those offending posts be removed from your thread.
Thread: About displacement maps..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
frankly for something like the star you aren't really getting much bang for your bucks by using a displacement over bump. you probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference in a render between the two unless captain america was facing in direct profile where you would see the profile of the star sticking out of the chest. changing the outline of the mesh, (which bump woudn't do) in any other position IÂ doubt that you would notice a difference.
Thread: ok Morph Guru types, what am I doing wrong :) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
there is a way to fix that problem without starting from scratch, the way do it is apply your morph at 100% and than apply the girl morph at -100% . than save the result, that will give you just the bits of the morph that you changed. you can than spawn that as a new morph.
