Actually, I need a solid boolean of the head; the idea is to mimic one of those ancient Giant Head sculptures in Mexico. I want to add some boolean "Ching-gowas" (technical term for dents, chips and breaks) to make the head look old and shattered. Here's what's really strange: I ungrouped the lot, selected only the large head part, made it positive and used only it and the cube to do the boolean and the neck still rendered weird... without even being a member of the booled group! Is this a Poser specific problem? Seems I've booled .obj's and the like (stuff from the web) without this happening. I'm going to experiment some more. More to follow...

I like it... but. The fog is a little too thick around the base and I'm not sure about the (Faerie?)'s texture, the face and eyes seem to disapear... Love the trees, too.
Thread: "Which gallery?... hrm..." | Forum: Bryce
Got into some bickering about which renders poser figures better, Poser or Bryce. I consider Bryce superior but do not consider that the criteria for the gallery. I believe it should be the intent of what the artist is presenting... a beautifully rendered scene could have .objs, .lwos, etc. Where would it end? If you are promoting the scene, then the final program should win out. If your intent is to say, "Hey, look at this cool Poser figure." Then the gallery should be Poser. Etc. $.02

There were quite a few goodies from Marlin Studios on the CD that comes with "Inside Lightwave 6" book. Definitely has some great textures...

That's pretty much what I was doing... I imported two figures w/clothing from poser into bryce as one .obj file so that all ratios would remain. The problem was that to change all of the dif/amb/spec settings, I had to isolate each figure. I ungrouped the whole thing, then selected each mesh (holding shift) belonging to a particular figure then regrouping just that figure. Gaah! It would have been considerably easier if I could keep clicking and scrolling down. Oh well...
Thread: Daz and the Clipart Issue... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
May I suggest to Dan Farr that he get his lawyers on the horn and rewrite the license agreement? If any of you know or associate with these ilk, Mr. Farr's written and verbal assurance of what he "means" is considerably different from what the language of the license "says." If DAZ were to be sold to some third party tomarrow, the art work we create today with Msr. Farr's assurances, would still be beholden to the license agreement that says "no clip art". Period. Remember, lawyers use the language they do so that you need a lawyer to read it. Amazing how far we've come from the original Constitution (written for every "educated man") to the days that no one but a lawyer can defend your actions to a jury of your "peers". I'm ranting...sorry.

Usually, when the "Memory Error" occurs is when the .obj file in the Geometries folder is missing or the path call in the cr2 file (i.e. "c:program files: metacreations: runtime: geometries: whosit.obj") points to the wrong place. Open the cr2 file in a text editor like wordpad and see if the .obj file indeed lies on that path. If not, either edit the cr2 file or relocate the .obj file to the corresponding path. I find it odd, tho, that you can select body parts after this happens. Are these "Kosher" poser files?

What do AJ's brows look like? (not her biggest fan). Could you just tweak the texture using Photoshop or PSP?

Glad to hear that Gryffnn is up to something. I do a lot of gasp Bryce work and unless I'm really close to the character, posette pleases me. Especially using the "vickiebuster-again" texture...

Thread: Bryce vs. 3DS MAX | Forum: Bryce
I like Bryce. I also have Lightwave. If I could ever figure it out, I might prefer it, esp. for TV. But I don't know max, so illuminate us, Joke, why is Bryce the "No-Brainer"?

A young, tender cooking hen is often refered to as a "Fryer", could Monsieur Dumpty be a "Poacher"? :-)
