Mmmmm, I also just tried it in a pz2 file - the Pz2 loads ok, but the python script gets ignored.

Thread: Poser File Format Manual | Forum: Poser Technical
Hi Jentron. I played around with using Poser figures in the Ogre 3d engine - with the long term view of doing a game. That was about 12 months ago - and the code is still in OpenSource at Ogre. The end result was that 1) V3 was too-high poly - around 20fps at best on my Geforce 3. Don and V1 were around 80 fps from memory - the performance depends a lot of the materials and textures. 2) I was also importing the skeletons, and the joint parameters were a nightmare. In the end, I determined it wasn't feasible to use these models for a game. But the code is all sitting there is you want it....

Thread: Weird texturing - now how did I manage *this*? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have had this happen before - although in different circumstances. It happened when I introduced small mesh changes that resulted in the mesh shadowing itself - and I was using the FF renderer. Have you tried rendering without shadows?

Mmmmm, sure - there are movies, but dealing with real actors must be such a hassle...

LornaW, /you/ might use Poser to make art, but some people use Poser to try and make realistic images. Both purposes are good! And both are equally demanding to do right. Oh, and there is one thing you can do with a realistic Poser render that you can't with a camera....animate.

Papa, there is a tutorial on skin (related to the script) which deals with this. Granite displacement is probably what you are after. Plus some spots.Creator of PoserPhysics

I guess the image is realistic if you think it's a photo. I didn't think this image by FS was a photo, although a couple of his/her early images were close! There are other (more?) realistic renders about the place - one of Willam The Bloody's is outstanding. And the girl standing in the field in the tall grass (can't remember the renderer). It's also easier to get closer to realism if the subject's mouth is closed (teeth are a killer), their body is not visible, there are no clothes in the scene, and it is a close-up (since shadows are not a problem). I would love to see what FS could do if he or she put their considerable talents to a more challenging image.

You can also play around with lowering the diffuse value (from 1 to about .8 or .7). Then plug a light color (tinted slightly to blue?) into the ambient and set the ambient value to around .1 or .2. You will need to experiment a little....

OK, first replay to this has gone into the ether.... XSI have dropped the price of their highend package (which directly competes with Maya and 3ds) from about $2000 to $495. It comes with the Mental Ray renderer. Only downside is that it's quite a learning curve. You can download a 30 day trial (which I've been playing with).

Mmmm, definitely something going wrong with her hair there. Have you got one of the hair maps plugged into her face texture?

Duanemoody - looks like you could up the red in the incidence effect. If your texturemap doesn't have much red in it - you can go as high as 100 red in diffuse, and 40 in ambient. She is still a little yellow in the cheeks. Make sure the spotlight is all white. And doesn't look like you are using a bumpmap there - so the spec isn't really coming thru. Try UNCHECKING the "use noise if no bumpmap" and see if that helps.

AntoniaTiger, do a seach for "quinlor" in this forum. He posted a node setup for displacement mapping to get around the 8-to-16 bit colour issue.
