With my IT wonk hat on, my advice is: do not install Norton. If it's already there, get rid of it.
I use a modest combination of AVG Free (http://www.grisoft.com/) and Spybot (http://www.spybot.info/). These don't mess things up on your system and (so far) have dealt with every potential nasty I've encountered.
Raxco PerfectDisk (http://www.raxco.com/) is my choice for a defragger - this will improve disk performance.
Finally, TuneUp Utilities (http://www.tune-up.com/) is worth checking out.

> Quote - Would learning the basics of photography help in composing and rendering my scene?
It wouldn't hurt, certainly. Your lighting looks pretty good to me, but it's always helpful (though not obligatory) to bear in mind the 'rule of thirds'.
I've taken the liberty of recomposing your image (with the grid superimposed). Also, a bit more differentiation between the subject and background wouldn't go amiss, unless that was the effect you had in mind.
Other photographic basics such as focal length, depth of focus and so on will make some features of using cameras in Poser (and almost every other 3D prog) more intelligible.

Thread: Saving V4 morphes? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Ouch...! So, no way to have INJection Pose Builder works with V4??
Someone posted a V4 config file for IPB in January. However, I found IPB to be frustratingly slow when handling V4. I managed one successful session before abandoning it as far as V4 is concerned.
Poser 7 makes it quick and easy to make morph poses, as pjz99 said earlier. I can't remember if Poser 6 is the same.
So if you have P7, it's probably less hassle than IPB or any of the Python utilities mentioned.

Thread: Need Help Getting a Good Portrait Camera Setting | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In the real world, you'd use nothing much shorter than an 80mm lens for portraiture (on a 35mm camera), unless you were after a distorted effect.
It's been a while since I did any photography, but I remember using a 100 - 200 mm zoom for head and shoulder shots.
I'd experiment with those kind of settings.

Thread: art for sale on ebay | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Let me quote from http://scams.wikispaces.com/Wired+Payment:
*Name: Wired payment scam
Aka: Paypal Refusal
Victims: Web shoppers
Crew: One person and a computer
The Scam: The con artist sells an item extremely cheaply on Ebay. These are usually electronic items such as DVD players, digital cameras etc. When the victim wins the auction or purchases the item, the con artist says he does not accept paypal payments. Paypal is the payment section of Ebay and allows reasonably safe internet payments that can be traced if required.
The con artist claims that he has had problems with paypal and that the victim will have to wire him the money via Western Union or a similar money transfer system. Since the payment can not be traced, the con artist keeps the cash and never has to deliver the product.
Variations: The same scam was original used in newspaper classifieds. The con artist would place advertisments in out of town newspapers and wait for people to call.
The Take: $200-$2000
Keywords: Advance fee fraud, short con, internet

This is probably a SCAM.
The English is poor, the images on the Ebay page are dismal, and the price is way too low.
I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole.

Thread: Render Problems- Can anyone help? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This sounds like a memory problem - consider upgrading your RAM to at least 2Gb. Your graphics card won't make any difference, btw.
Have a look at GlowWorm (http://www.poseworks.com/glowworm/), which lets you batch render and, for your current situation, divide a scene into sections. These are rendered individually and you stick 'em together in Photoshop (or whatever). I've found this really very useful.
Also, there's a Python script floating about somewhere, I think it's a freebie, which will render each figure in a scene individually - maybe someone reading this can help track it down.

I've been meaning to post this for a while.
I find that setting AO on on the brightest light in the scene works quite well, at least in Poser 7.
No teeth visible in these examples, but it works. Check out the 'nose glow'.
The difference in render times (firefly, obviously) between 1 and 2 is negligible. 3 takes considerably longer; I think it's better, but not by much.

Thread: Upgrading to Poser 6 decission... help please! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've had considerably less glitches with P7 than I ever had with P6. If you have a dual (or quad) core processor it's a lot faster at rendering. A minor niggle is that when you delete a figure, it's slow as hell (due to P7's multiple undos), though this has been improved slightly with SR1.
If you load up the wrong figure, it's quicker to do a CTRL+Z than delete it.

I'm trying to figure out how to convert my existing V4 based characters, clothes etc. to V4.1. Tried a few things but no success yet.
Anyone have any suggestions?
