Thread: Render problem. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Lowering the bucket size usually helps. :)
When you click the option to use separate processes, be aware that Poser will use more of your memory. This means you probably won't be able to do anything else with your computer until Poser finishes... including "little things" like answering e-mail or writing notes in NotePad.

Thread: OT: Damn that gmail adware is smart! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Actually, gmail is too smart.
I was talking about the new Transformers movie and gmail showed an ad for (what else?) Transformers action figures. As I was looking at the figures, I saw this: Optimus Prime Statue. Yep, you read that right- 2 Meter/ 6.5 Feet tall!!!

Thread: Program to make MAT poses from textures?? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Instead of using outside software, you can make a MAT pose by saving the cr2 figure back to the library and then editting it in a text editor. Here's a tutorial: Making MAT Poses (Quick Method)

Even if the models can be converted to a format that's usable to us modellers, what's the polygon count? I'm sure it has to be very low to be usable in the game... which may mean it's far too low to look good when rendered in Poser.
Yes, I know there are a lot of low-poly models that look great in Poser... but the Train Simulator models weren't originally designed for use in Poser. ;)

Thread: Why so quiet? It's September, people! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
At the risk of getting everyone depressed and upset.
I saw this on Yahoo News:
Bin Laden plans to release new video
It will be 6 (SIX!) years after the terrorist attacks on 9/11, so why the ****-ing **** can't anyone find this guy? Does no one else find this to be beyond incredible??
What happened to the so-called "intelligence" agencies of the US, the UK, Israel, FBI, CIA, MI6, Interpol, etc.
The US has satellites that can read a license plate from outer space, yet we can't find this guy? Granted, we may not have maps of Afghanistan or wherever he may be hiding, but don't we have intelligence officers? What about other countries?
And let's not get into Bush's speech after 9/11 about how we won't rest until we found Bin Laden. (Anyone want to post the exact wording of his speech?)
Yet, here we are, SIX years later: the US is stuck in a losing war in Iraq and Bin Laden is still releasing video tapes making fun of us.
In related news, does anyone know if New York City has made any progress on building anything where the World Trade Center used to be? Or is it still a gaping hole in the ground... SIX YEARS LATER!
As Penn & Teller said on their show, nothing would be a bigger "F** You" to the terrorists than for us to build another set of towers in the exact same shape. Sure, they can knock the buildings down, but we will rebuild.
Instead, six years later, we still have a huge hole in the ground to remind us what happened... and remind us that we're not moving on.
So, I apologize if I think that "Is Poser art?" is a trivial question right now.

Thread: The New add Friends | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I get that the friends list is a good way to create a social network of people, but here's my question: why should I approve someone's friend request?
I would like to recommend adding a text box so the person can send a reason for asking to be your friend.
If I get a request from "JoeNewbie" and I have no idea who he is, why should I add him to my friends list? Sure, I could click on his home page, but that usually doesn't tell me much. I'd be much more likely to hit the accept button if the person told me why I should add him as a friend, even a simple "I like your artwork".
The site runs the risk of having some members almost "spamming" other people by clicking every "add as friend" button they can find, just to build their own friends list.
And what was the motive for "Store Staff" wanting me to be his/ her friend anyway? ;)

Quote - The track, however, appears overscale
The rails were created from a series of blueprints found on Wikipedia and Trains.com. This image has a "forced perspective" look due to the camera's focal length.
These are the same rails that are included in our other train products so all trains will work with all rails and vice versa.
If you have any suggestions on how to improve the rails or if you'd like to make your own set of rails, train cars, and engines, please feel free.

Attached Link: Transforming animation on YouTube
> Quote - Okay, they look cool and all, but heres the deal. Do they transform?Who ever heard of a transforming robot that didn't transform. :-)
Check out this short animation on YouTube, showing the TruckR (with the Optimus Prime texture) transforming from vehicle to robot mode.
This animation is actually very easy to make: apply the "vehicle" pose at keyframe 0, apply the "robot" pose at keyframe 60 or 90, set the render options, and hit "Make Movie".

Just to clarify: the freebies are located at www.vanishingpoint.biz.
Even though the links above are click-able (and they take you to the correct page), please do not go to "vanishinpoint.com" (without the "g") or "vanishingpoint.com": although these may be sites for a "Vanishing Point", they are not links to the Vanishing Point which has these items. ;)
And I can't take credit for converting textures to Poser format since Poser can use the jpg textures just fine. But I did create the MAT poses to make it easier to apply the textures. ;)
Thanks

Thread: OT:Rendo Poser Forum Week in review... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Very good summary.
I vote to do this every week. Then, in a few months, do a summary of the summary and see how many topics keep repeating themselves, such as "newbies trying to make a fortune making (fill in the blank)", "people hating on something, then hating on each other for trying to defend the something".

Quote - The Rancor is a free low polygon figure not made for this range, but works well for crowd fight scenes.
As a point of clarification: although the Rancor is a low-polygon figure and it will work nicely in crowd scenes, the name and likeness is owned by LucasFilm: this was the monster that tried to eat Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi.
So, while we highly encourage people to use our free items, keep in mind that use of the Rancor falls under the category of "fan art" and may or may not be usable in commercial projects.

Thread: Sanctumart goes animae and.........CUTE!!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I'm not really enjoying going there much these days as there is an overwhelming amount of stuff from Vanising Point that's really too much to wade through these days. Sometimes you see ONE Poser specific thing on a whole page of crafts and what not from that company. Nice works but sheesh!! Too much!!
I don't mean to add fuel to this argument, but can I make a suggestion for looking through the products at CP? Have you tried the link that says "Poser New Releases"? (It's on the left-hand side, under the links for "On Sale!" and "All New Releases".)
I would assume that when you click on it, you don't have to "wade through" all the non-Poser stuff.
But, in response to your question, I think it's very exciting that we at Vanishing Point are able to sell the De Espona Studio Max models at Content Paradise. Even though CP is mainly know for Poser products, we're happy to have the opportunity to expand into a new market like this.
