Just wanted to clear some things up. I always get to these threads way late, so I apologize. We're in the midst of Pro Pack developement so I haven't had much of a chance to get here. I can't give you an actual date. I wish I could. I hate to say soon, but it will be out soon. The Pro Pack is being tested with R2.5 R3.1 now, and when we get R4 we'll start working on that right away. Compatability for 3rd party product versions not yet shipped would be offered in the form of a patch whith adequate testing completed. Lightwave for instance. We will have a 5.6 and a 6.0 plugin included in the Pro Pack, but we're at the mercy of Newtek on issues regarding 6.5. When 6.5 is in a state that we can develop for it, then we'll work on an update. The Pro Pack is not being done in lieu of Poser 5 but is a seperate product. We really want to start offering high-end tools but the majority of our users do not need them and we felt the best thing to do was offer a seperate package. We're also contemplating individual plugins for other apps. Our choice on which apps is pimarily driven by two things. First your requests. Second, the avaialability of an SDK or support from the company that created the app you want us to plug into. Hope this clears a few things up.Thread: Free Poser 3 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, It's a great place to start. The only way you can upgrade though, is through the U.K distributor listed in the magazine. You cannot use that serial number to upgrade on the Curious Labs web store. Still a great deal and a great place to start.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this thread. We are looking at Cinema4d, Truespace and some others, but due to limited resources we've had to concentrate our efforts a bit. I'd like to go into more detail about the ProPack, but I'll need to hold off until next week. I'll start a new thread in hopes of getting some feedback from everyone. Thanks

Sorry, we should be going international, very soon. Hopefully Tuesday, but no promises since that depends on circumstances that we don't fully control.
Thread: Boolean errors? | Forum: Carrara
Most of the problems with booleans in Carrara are due to bugs in the vertex primitive and really cannot be overcome... you can work around them, for instance there was a specific bug where if you placed a cube and a sphere at the origin then did a non-uniform scale on the cube(there was a specific range but I don't remember what), did a subtract of the sphere from the cube, it would crash. But only if the fidelity was cranked to %200. Set the fidelity to %199 and it didn't crash. As for the old flying polygons, that's a different issue. The first thing to do is a test render on the area to see if they're actually there and not just being drawn by the interactive renderer. If you see them in the vertex modeler, they're there. Undos and booleans don't mix because half of the time information doesn't get written into the undo buffer properly, if at all, causing many a crash on undo. I think the key is high polygon count and medium fidelity. But there's no real cure.
