I'm back to report it works as expected, good job and thanks again!
I'm thinking, what would really add to this script would be noise expression, with ability to "lay on top" of the oscillator. IOW, the oscillator would be the "carrier" wave...so you could make a "big" wave with "little" noises nested into it.

So, the script detects what things you have changed while it is running, and applies a waveform to all of them ? IOW, if I set the low values for both wings and a finger and punch "mark one", then the high value for these parts and punch "mark 2", then enter the rest of the info (start and finish frame numbers, damping and wave shape), I will end up with flapping wings and a wagging finger? Cool.

Wow, you are awesome, I will give it a try!
And thanks! Ockham, a familiar handle (tho I don't really frequent the forum very much) I remember you have helped me in the past as well...much appreciated.

Thanks svdl, for turning me on to Gelato, that sounds like it has some promise!
I would love to speed up ALL my rendering, of course, not just Poser, but probably even more so my Lightwave (9.3) and (eyeon) Fusion (5.3) renders... and they are high-end enough that I have some hope that Gelato plug-ins will appear eventually. Unfortunately, they aren't the most popular programs around. That's the best part about the CPU approach is that everything becomes faster across the board, ...but those GPU based speeds are sounding irresistible!

svdl, I am really interested in what you are saying, and would like to know:
what graphics card did you choose? And, does the graphics card matter all that much in frame renders (as opposed to real-time: gaming and 3D scene interfacing)?
thanks

Interesting discussion
Brings me to me questions: all I really care about is my rendering time, getting it small (fast) as possible in a number of applications, actually. Will 64 bit OS be the way to go, if wanting to maximize potential of quadcore machine, even if it only has 4 gigs ram ? Does ram really affect render times? isn't it primarily the processing speed?
And, if a render slave network is created, do all the slaves have to be uniform (either 64 or 32 OS)? IOW, is "mixing" allowed by the best render slave apps?
thanks

First of all, you guys are all great, thanks! for all the help, both general and specific.
English Bob: LMAO, yeah, it would easy to be mistaken for a disgusting 48 year old guy looking for porn, seeing as how I'm a disgusting 48 year old guy looking for corn :)

heh. Anyway..I think it was Acadia's issue I remember reading about in the past here, I remembered something about the friction issue and had also played with that a bit before starting the thread.
Thanks all, I will dig into it and post back when I've found the solution. I got two votes for fixing / constraining / excluding cloth vertices, so that's where I will start. As far as using one piece versus two pieces, I have fiddled both ways. Wait, that didn't come out right...I'm already in enuf trouble with the whole YT-Angels fiasco :)
Thread: I want poser to keep asking me, in case I pick the wrong one! OBJ files, that i | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, perhaps this explains my anomolies. Going back to the original content file, here are the first and second lines:
figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:ZygotePeople:blMilWom.obj
figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:pwfw:sistervikki2elizbth.obj
I think I know what to do now :)
thanks a lot !

Thanks for the help! Look at that, 5958 and 5960...posts, that is. Neck and neck :)
Apparently, the first figureResFile line is the original, and the second gets updated with the user's selection. Emphasis on apparently, I'm toughing this out on notepad text editor.
Thanks again for the tips....looks like a good niche for a python script, to me :)
Thread: MFD as Conforming/Dynamic clothing? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
well, I can report that PhilC's clothing room helper seems to work fine on v3MFD, but on Gown for Maddie3, it just draped (with active progress bar) for 19 hours before I finally used task manager to terminate Poser 6.
One thing I didn't expect to happen (when applying CRH python buttons) was a popupwindowmessage that prompted me to change my end frame to 1 (iow, delete 29 frames from my default 30)...so I did.
The reasons I let it go to see if it would finish must be obvious to the strong user :)
That I will be looking into this more is also obvious, heh.
Today I will be trying the CRHelper on MFD expansion after I use WWizard, to go from V3 to Maddie3.
Any insights would be enormously appreciated.
BTW I paid some attention to being sure the Gown was "big enuf", so that shouldn't have been the cause of the failure.
Also, am running P6, 2 gig ram 3ghz heart on XP, so... >19 hours seems a tad unreasonable.

Quote - wardrobe wizzard 2 can turn conforming clothing into a prop which can then be made dynamic in the cloth room.
apparently, so can PhilC's free ClothingRoomHelper utility, a link to which can be found on page 4 of this thread. I just downloaded it, and reading the "read me" file makes me say what I just said. Can't wait to try it, I'm already a big fan of Wardrobe Wizard in particular and PhilC in general :)

kewl, barrowlass thanks
yeah I've been reading the juicy thread from Acadia (!thanks!), chock full of wisdom and knowledge borne of tribulation and sweat about these very issues, good stuff!

Here's me waking up to the fact that Eye yam -on occasion- a horses ass...pop
tyger, many props to you for bringing that into the realm of the obvious, if it wasn't before.
Duh...the direct selection tool!
Shoot, here I was just assuming I was actually in that mode...not without the big clown-faced handlebars and pretty primary colors, I wasn't!
Jeez, I feel so silly, downright stupid even. Here Poser was already capable of doing exactly what i thought (as pointed out... passionately) that it should.
I guess I shoulda spend more time reading the manual than I did, dya think?
heh. a bitter one. time to lay off the various elixars of celebration and inebriation...
Thread: Do you pose with dials or by direct manipulation? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
cspear, that's an awesome idea!
I'm going to float it by my biz partner, who knows someone that is experienced in building gadgetry prototypes. That gizmo would save tons of time, energy...
The "wooden" model could be made more anatomically correct to guide the user's orientation, and boom
...what would you all pay for such a device?
Okay, now what would you pay if it had all the joints (hands feet fingers toes, etc)?

No, I have not tried Carrera.
'Scuz the passion, but Eye have got deadlines :)
and, trying to make some order out of this chaos wink
