It's just i didn't know there was a 3D figure of him ;)

Your first pass should be a color pass only, though there is shadow on it. If you blend the shadow pass with this one you will have double shadow :)
Seriously, interesting results. I like to work with passes myself, it gives you more control as you can increase or decrease an effect, play with some masks etc...
Now what about that green bg you have in your composit, it reminds me those green bg used in movies to blend cg with live shots. Is it for something like that?
And what is that figure?

Hu... i've never realized that, good point :)
Indeed Poser is lacking a lot of simple features that are included in other renderers since a looong time.

You can set the figure as shadow catcher only, so only the shadows from the hair will be on the shadow only render.

VHere are some of the best Hex tuts i'm aware of:
Tutorial: Belt, Buckle and Harness basics
T59 Hexagon Clothing workshop.
Modeling a salsa dress in Hexagon for Poser
The Geekatplay ones are video tutorials, and i particularly recommends them to you as they are clearly explained and easy to follow. They cover a lot of what Hex is capable of :)

Hex indeed has some bugs. Though, what do you mean by "Keeps freezing up..."?
It could be a video card issue.
It's a real cool piece of software, i do all my modeling with it, and despites the bugs, i LOVE it! :D

In my town there is an organization that capture cats who are living outside by themselves and neuter them, they also do that if you're willing to rescue one of them and keep him in your home. In factn it's what they prefer :)
I got my last baby like that. Though i insisted to pay the amount of the operation if the founds went to help a Second Chance for Animal Welfare like group.
It was an retired old lady that came to trap my Casper, as i was desesperately trying to catch him for days without success :/
She was doing that for free, only because she loved so much the animals. And now, my Casper is so happy to live with us and his brother and sister :))
