Hi Markschum, using the hierachy editor to set parent-child relationships is a good idea. Already using it to check to see what's happening in the setup room. Thanks -- Plutom
Thread: My NEW Computer!!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Sniffle, sniffle, the only RAM my motherboard takes are PC 600 or PC800's-an Intel (Lexington 2 motherboard). The cost is around $300 for a 512MB RAM kit ( two crummy 256MB RAM chips). So to get more RAM is a new motherboard, a power supply that is not 250 Watts etc and I'm not a do-it-yourself-installer (too many little pins on the CPU and it only takes one fold over and the CPU is hosed, or smash the power supply on the motherboard or not get the CPU heatsink properly coated with heat transfer paste and seated properly on the CPU etc.
By the way, it appears that you bought yourself a coprocessor video card and not an accelerator type. Your co processor card is designed specifically for CAD, 3D studio, Maya etc-it allows your main CPU to do other things and not share its time with graphics.
I certainly would be interested in how it functions with all your software 3D programs. Plutom
Thread: Plunging into the murky waters of the Poser setup room | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
For a long time, I was thinking "why would I want to mess around with the setup room, I have no intention of modifying Judy, she's perdy enough with some face and figure morphing.
Now, I'm finding that one can make simple things in the setup room as add on's for Judy (to perdy her up eg necklaces. Yes, there is a superb necklace in the freebies section and that necklace got me thinking. Plutom
Thread: How do you create .crz files? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks Doc. I was going through Flatman, then decided to download the 29 Frames, got stuck on one thing, can't see the body in setup, got head, neck, no bones--I think I skip an instruction. Got to check the SOE (stupid operator error) thing that I'm so famous for. Plutom

Dr Geep, thanks for the info, got another problem and that involves the setup room, so its time to enroll in Ye Olde Poser University for a deciphering of P 5's Ye Olde setup room. Plutom

Bagginsbill, you did an outstanding job with your tutorial. I tried it out with no complications whatsoever. Your images alone are self-explanatory. It is a neat trick to link the picture and mask together so that when you make changes to just one blender, like you stated, affects everything. Plutom

It also helps to begin the procedure with the dress above the chest level with most of the dress on the figure even if you have to increase the x, and z sizes of the dress. By the way,, Judy of Poser 5 fame can also use all of Vicky's and Victoria's stuff and looks great on her. In fact, old Don of Poser 5 fame may be able to use them too---no I haven't opened him up and tried--oh gad what a sight that would be, I'd have folks here washing their eyes out with sand. Plutom

Oops, one other thing you can do. After you get the pose you want, do the magnet trick. Here is how its done (at least in Poser 5).
--Click on the dress, then on the top row (File, Edit, Figure, Object, Display, Render, Animation, Window and the useless Help-click on Object and then Create Magnet
You will get a big Honking red horseshoe consisting of the big red horseshoe, a shunt bar at the magnet's base and a weird circle outline. All three are very important.
The circle is call the magnet zone, everything in that zone will be deformed is where you place it is extremely important, move it to the part of the dress that you want to move and adjust the x,y,z adjustments to what you want moved and nothing else eg the front of the dress at the bra level where you want the front end moved and not the back.
Now that big red nasty horseshoe, click on that and with its dials adjust the y coordinates and you will see that portion of the dress move, you don't have to move it too far just a little off the shunt.
Now here is where the neat thing come in, this is the place that you get rid of the horseshoe, shunt and nasty circle that's cluttering up your scene--click on Spawn Morph Target and name updown. Now click and that Nasty big red horseshoe and hit delete.
You will now have a new dial called updown-adjust the dial and you will see that dress portion go up and down--if you don't have everything going down-simply delete the dial and start over making minor adjustments with both the nasty red horseshoe, circle or both to get the results you want.
Try it on conforming clothes, it should work on them too
Additionally, on your curvaceous cutie, should work on her too same procedure. Jan

Well, this may seem funny, I've been able to do it with almost every dynamic dress in the freebie section (didn't want to do it and began condemning Poser etc to the very depths of hades). Try misaligning your dress right at the chest level and you will get a striptease unfolding before your eyes with the top part crumpled just below the breast level.
This is not the fault of the freebies, they are wonderful and I wish I could do them. It's what's called SOE (stupid operator error). Plutom

MatrixWorkz, His/her stuff looks pretty darn good. Thanks.
Nancy, still working on that displacement thing. Presently, its displacing everything, need to isolate it to the stocking area or selected areas of the stocking.

She is NOT!!, she is one gorgeous critter, err I mean woman. Besides, its a little fun trying to get her to look like Jessica Alba--got a little problem doing that though. By the way Sam, you suggestion worked now I can get Judy purdied up.
Nancy, I'll give the displacement thing a try.
Wus, I tried the setup room thing, that room is scary--I'm really going to have to go slow in it since I don't know what I'm doing there--but what do you expect from a person that thinks Judy is purdy.

Wus, Sam thanks for your info. I'd like to try both ideas.
I haven't touched the setup room and this may be as good as any to try it. Wus, what is a transmap and how do you make one. I assume that what is left in the setup room is used, but where and how? If I can do that, maybe I can find more useful stuff to try there.
Sam, second skin, Yeah, I think I know how to do that!. I'll give it a try-might be bugging you again if I run into problems. Guys thanks again for the quick response. Plutom
Thread: Some Thoughts on Poser 8 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
How about Poser giving some examples of when, where, why, how you would use magnets, nodes etc. Reading the what only-one can figure out one's self. Leaves me thinking so we have big red magnets with circles and a slab connecting the two ends of those perty red hourseshoes, so what and them math nodes here, millions of them. yep, there they are, multiply, add, subtract, combine etc. so what. Now how in the heck do you encorporate them, give examples.
Thank goodness for the folks here and the stuff in the freebie section. One can see that yeah so this can be done eg that wonderful bed morph by Alexander Kronener-wrinkled bedspread, sheets or the super dialog on making pores and freckles here in this forum using them nasty math nodes.
Finally learned how to use those perdy red magnets with them nice circles and thing on the bottom that connects both ends of that perdy red horseshoe that all of you have been raving about. Plutom
