I don't know if you only wanted comments on the rapier or on the whole scene. I agree with the comments above about the rapier. Other comments: The stone is too uniform. It appears to have a striated nature to it so I would expect there to be uneven chunks all over. I think you are depicting the sword in the stone. I would expect the sword to be buried deeper into the rock. Although I don't recall the length of a rapier it appears to me that only the tip sticks in. The background is very jagged. Since it is the background I think you could blur it more and therefore the jaggies should disappear. Finally, I am having difficulty with how the scene is lit. I understand you want the rapier to stand out, but how is it the rapier stands out but it has no shadow, the ground surrounding the scene is dark, the closest mountain is dark, yet the furthest is lit?

Carolly, I wouldn't decouple, I'd go back to the original figure, make the changes and then meld/couple that figure together. Or the coupling would not have to be permanent it could be a switch such as hide/unhide of a figure (couple/decouple?). I just have a very difficult time with the fact that if you have conformed the shoe to the foot that you still can select the shoe and in fact it is what you usually select, even though you can do nothing with it from a pose perspective until it is no longered conformed. While I agree that P4 is much better than P3, there always seem to be tradeoffs between versatility and useability (e.g. PC vs Mac). While in P4 you can control many figure aspects, the file sizes are much larger, getting things set up the way you want takes more time, scroll lists have become impossibly long, and beginning and intermediate users are easily overwhelmed. "Dresses wrapping around legs". That's why that keeps happening too? I'll change the aux camera when I get home, that shouuld help a lot. Thanks for all the useful info.

hauksdottir, Ahhh, yes, easy for youuuuu difficult for meeeeee. You see, I often have more than 10 figures in a scene simultaneously. First I have to figure out which hair has gone missing. I knew that IK screwed up the shoes, I had no idea it screwed up the hair too. Is this a "feature" or "bug". It would be very helpful if someone wrote a program that "melded" hair, shoes, or even clothes to a character. Nothing is more annoying than trying to select the figures foot and getting the sock, then selecting again to get the shoe, then selecting again to get the sock, and perhaps miracle of miracles you might actually get the foot after a while. Yes I know that you can use the drop down menus, but that is inconvenient too.

Intermittently hair does not stay where it's supposed to for me either. This often occurs when I drop a figure to the ground. In the past I have tried conforming and parenting. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes selecting the hair (if I can find it) and pressing CTRL+E will place it back where it is supposed to be. Sometimes CTRL+E does other strange things to the hair.
Thread: Read the manual?! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
By the way, the amputate example can be found in the P3 manual. Amputate cannot be found in the P4 index, however, information on this topic can be found by looking in the index under "visible". Now that may seem like an appropriate correction, however, what about all those new P3 users (getting the program for free) who are learning to call it "amputate". When they get to P4 or P5 they're not going to know where to look.
Thread: Read the manual?! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
We often come to expect too much of manuals. If it was as easy as learning from a book/manual all we'd need are libraries and not institutions of learning. Unfortunately, when we learn is often based on context. If it's needed and can be found then it will be useful. Some don't wish to read a book over and over again, even if it is at the mechanics shop, doctor's office, or elsewhere. Some don't learn if they're not in front of the computer. Manuals at the very least should explain the who, what, when, where, and why of every button, every switch, every choice, etc. Better yet they should do that in the context of tutorials so that some context is given to the use of the button, switch, choice etc. For me the most useful part of a comprehensive guide could be the index. Especially because I like using index type searches I like to have the manual online. Unfortunately, I don't use the same words as the tech writers. For example, I don't remember the exact circumstances, but I wanted to know how to make the foot invisible. I think I looked in the manual's index under foot, under visible, under invisible, later, I found out the manual had it under amputate?! Another one for me is that I cannot get used to calling or thinking of what should be called the upper arm, the shoulder. Therefore, I think a great addition would be a synonym guide. Finally, Curious Labs, since people successfully using their program will only serve to help them, should organize the wealth of information supplied in the various forums and put those together in a centrally located, searchable, online book.

I'm not sure I completely understand your problem but if you select a body part go to Object then go to Properties there is a checkbox that allows you to uncheck to make a body part invisible.

Steve, Thanks As to the idea of "artisic license" as it relates to sports that's what the NBA officials said after the way they refereed Game 6 of the Lakers vs. Kings series!

I thought there was a volleyball net at 3DCafe. I went over there and cannot find it. You can find specifications for the net and court at http://www.volleyball.org/rules/ Please consider placing this stuff in free stuff when you get it all together. Thanks

Cooler, Thanks. Bleachers? The perfect word to describe what they are. To bad I would never have done a search on that in a million years. I guess it's off to Amazon to get a good Thesaurus. BAM

This thread is making me think, showing me some things I didn't know, and making me question some things I'm seeing. I tried the PO2 switch and many of my previews don't show up is this because I have propack and it saves preview images differently? Is there any way to over come this? Is there any way to get the Figures, Poses, Props, etc. menu to show up all the time instead of hiding when you click outside the document window? I notice that the pictures have the name in the upper left hand corner of the screen. Often times this does not show up for me, there's nothing up there. Any ideas as to why that happens or how to get it to reappear?
