Thread: What is an Avatar, please ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Correct me, if I'm wrong, an avatar once was a "human envelope" for a god, at least in Irish folklore. It was a real life representation which housed a god while he/she was walking among the mortals. The name was choosen for the pictures representing a person in a chat room, a game, or something like that, as Joey already mentioned. Willy

What crosses my mind - she looks comfortable womanish. She has everything what drove our ancestors south across the Alps - Emperors as well as tourists. Willy

The lower right edge of the main window (in pose room) has a small circle of lighter color. Use this as a handle to "drag" the window size. The color markers for background, foreground, etc. should float also to the right side of the window. If not, you can select "Edit -> General Preferences..." then "Launch to factory state" for both "Document Preference" and "Interface Preference". After "OK" you should close and re-open Poser5. This will produce a standard layout for the pose room. Now you can change all you want to, then select "Launch to Preferred State" in the "General Preferences" in order to save your private layout. Thread: Drawing pad (electric). Suggestions? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I use a Graphire 2. (4x5) With Win2k Pro and XP home.Installation is a breeze. Stability 100%. No problems. It has USB-attachment. Tools (included) are a wireless mouse (it doesn't have batteries either, it is a passive device - very convenient) and a graphic pen with an eraser cap. I use it with PS-Elements. The pen transmits pressure and can be used as any one of the PS-tools (pencil, brush, airbrush) in a very natural way. The eraser at the upper end of the pen is just that - draw something, turn the pen upside down and just erase your faults. After a while you handle the pen like its RW brethren. Positioning is handled in the following way: 1. the mouse shifts the cursor from the point you touch down on the pad and moves it into any direction ("relative positioning"). 2. the pen uses "absolute positioning", i.e. if you touch down on a certain point you can always return to that point as exact as you want. Both tools disengage the cursor when lifted more than, say 3-5 millimeters (sorry, 1/6 to 1/4 of an inch). Cursor movement resumes when the tools come within that distance to the tablet. The tablet has a transparent pad which can be lifted and a photo or a drawing can be inserted under it. So, to a degree, you can also do some tracing work. I sometimes use a small ruler and a rectangle for simple constructions (tangents etc.) That is, the Wacom tablet is a very good bargain for around $100. Willy

Thread: Rather technical- repeating geometry to reduce file size- is it possible? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ah, you're right, maclean. Readscript can only read poser files like pp2 or cr2. But I have cut out the inline geometry from a pp2-file and replaced it by a "objFileGeom"-command. This works - more or less. You still have to have the channels and all. Willy

Now I'm blushing, Dr. Geep! I didn't want to put the blame on you, because most of the more sophisticated tricks I know about Poser I've learned from you. The reason can easily be seen from your "One Page Tut" above - it's simple and exhaustive - and fun to read! As an avid collector of you formidable tutorials, Yours truly Willy PS: I'm in all of your classes from the beginning. But, being the most educated pupil I am, I keep silence 'til the end. (Hrm,umpf)
