I agree but even still, are you making stuff for V4, M4 or for Genesis?

I'm just wondering how many vendors are supporting the Genesis characters and if they are getting enough sales from it to make it worthwhile.

I'm kind of interested in people's opinion on this myself because so far I haven't made any clothing products for the Genesis characters and I was wondering if I'm missing out on a large sales market.

I don't use Daz Studio or any Genesis models myself so I don't know how evaluate anything concerning them.

Without knowing specifically what modeling app FightingWolf was seeking instruction on I just assumed he wanted to learn one of the major 3D modeling applications like Maya, 3dsmax, etc. Both Lynda.com and Digital Tutors are invaluable resource sites for anyone wishing to self-teach themselves modeling in one of the major modeling applications.

You may wish to consider online training sites like Lynda.com or Digital Tutors. They are relatively inexpensive on a per month subscription basis and you'll find all the video tutorials you'd need to learn how to model.

I'm from the old school and learned how to model from pouring over thousands of pages in books on modeling (along with trial and error) and I can tell you that I wished I would have started from these subscription sites instead but they didn't exist then. If a picture is worth a thousand words how much is a complete video course worth? :)

Yes. I closed the whole browser window rather than hitting the back button which apparently had the same effect :)

What still remains a bit of a mystery however is that the edited text didn't appear after clicking on 'Continue Editing' and then 'Preview Image' and this was after a page refresh.

It seems like what you have to do is upload your image and then edit the text after it's uploaded to the gallery.

I wish I would have spent some time thinking about it too but when I joined Rendo many years ago I had no idea of what my involvement was going to be so I just used my network login from work. Richabri is just a concatenation of my real name that was auto-generated by our IT department.

I had plenty of opporunities to change it and I wished I would have before I developed so many products under that screen name :)

After going through this thread it prompted me to take a look again at Wacom's site and I really like the new Bamboo tablet. So I'm tempted to buy it and give my first gen Bamboo to my kid :)

I have the first generation Bamboo Fun as well and I'm glad I got that one rather than one of the more expensive Intuous line of tablets. You really have to ask yourself how much use you plan to get out of this thing because it can be an expensive component that ends up not being used as much as you thought it would. That's been the case with mine. I always plan on using it more but there always seems to be something more pressing that needs to be attended to instead.

If money isn't a concern then get the best you can afford - otherwise get a Bamboo and if you find you're really getting a lot of use from it you can always upgrade to a better tablet at another time. You'd be surprised however how much you can do with the Bamboo and it just might be all the tablet you need.

I was surprised to hear that many professionals actually prefer to use the smaller tablets and I would have guessed that anyone would prefer to get the largest tablet they could afford but apparently that isn't so. Many digital artists actually prefer the smaller desktop footprint and the ability to draw from the wrist rather than sweeping your arm to get your curves. The Bamboo tablet has both of these features for a very affordable price.

I have to say however, that even after offering this advise that I'd still love to be able to get my hands on a nice medium-sized Intuous 4 tablet and if it was easily affordable I would probably do so :)

While I agree with maclean about being able to model to exact dimensions in your modeler,  my concern has always been how that scale will translate into every version of Poser including the versions that haven't been released yet. That's why I prefer to use an imported M4/V4 character to judge the appropriate size of the room or props that I'm making.

Ultimately that is where the rubber is going to meet the road in Poser :)

In case anyone is interested - the M4 Blank.Cr2 file worked out just fine. It has to be edited of course but it works out quite well for the conforming figures.

I had a small difficulty getting the shoes to conform properly (they had to be posed into place) but other than that everything else worked out great :)
