If you go to XFrog's web site http://xfrog.com/130-free-xfrogplants-now-available/ they have some free plants/trees in vob format, not all the freebies listed there have vob format, you willl need to click on each freebie link to see what format is available for that particular item. The Japanese Maple for example is one that has a Vue download for it.
I belong to the XFrog Yahoo group and the following tutorial has recently been posted there for help with thier plants in Vue. www.xfrog.com/Vue/1300XfrogPlantsVue.avi
Hope this helps
Thread: Snow TOPPED Mountains? DTE. | Forum: Bryce
I just did a simple test using one of the preset snow mats(First Snow). All I did is go into the texture source editor and changed all 4 components to "altitude". . Then open up the filter dialogue and put a bead in component 3 on the filter dialogue box. Then type in the following values in the filter orientation fields.
a) -20
b) 2
c) 2
Click out of there, then click transformation tools and adjust Y axis on the scale controls to about 80. The higher the number you put in here the lower the snow ridge will be on your terrain.
Hope you understand this, if you have any problems I can post some screen shots.

Thread: 16 Bit Greyscale Terrains-Attn AS and Bikermouse | Forum: Bryce
Tks pakled, after some further searching I've found a plug in that will export 16 bit .pgm's directly out of Photoshop. Now to go off and play and test it out.

This is definately nice to know Dan and will be useful knowledge if and when I ever upgrade to 6.1, but unfortunately I am still using 5.5.
Thread: Thinking about getting Bryce | Forum: Bryce
That model that you linked to would probably work in the free Bryce 5.5. Someone will probably correct me if I'm wrong but it is in .obp format and should load into 5.5.
Thread: Slighty OT Re: Xfrog | Forum: Bryce
Yes, the XFrog forum here is dead. I have XFrog as well and they have quite an active support group within Yahoo Groups that I belong to. There is a fellow on there by the name of Orio which I beleive is either owner or works for Greenworks and he pops in there quite often. It is great software for vegatation but I find it is next to impossible to find tutorials on the net to help and learn the software. If you go to google and type in "Bryce Tutorials" you get hundreds of sites where you can download helpful information. Do this with XFrog and all you get is how to use or install the add ons for high end proggies like Maya, 3DS Max, and C4D, nothing on how to create trees or vegatation on the standalone product. One of the biggest issues with the user community on this software is the liscenceing. I purchased the product a while back and installed it, I then re-imaged my system a few months later and my serial number no longer worked for the re-install. It took my over a month to iron that one one with Greenworks after my e-mails to customer support went unanswered.

Here is another one here, not quite exactly the same as ICM linked to but similar. As well a link to the main mesh database where I found it.

Thread: camera angles and magnifying glass - help | Forum: Bryce
Not exactly sure why your camera angle would change after zooming back out unless you inadvertinely selected the camera while zoomed in and changed its position without knowing it. On the top left of the interface are 5 or 6 small beads (right beside the Nano Preview window if I remember correctly - dont have Bryce on my PC here at work) which you can select to remember your exact camera positioning. One thing I will always do before using the Zoom tool or playing around with different camera settings is to click one of these. After your done editing in the Zoom mode and Zoomed back out, if your camera is not where it should be just click on that same bead and your exact camera positioning will be restored.

Thread: A question about tree sizes | Forum: Bryce
bobbystahr - From your post I'm assuming that you know how to apply your own maps to the trunks and and or the foliage from the tree editor. So are you talking about editing them after you've applied them?. If so, are they MAT files or .jpg files. If they are MAT files they can be edited in the DTE but if they are .jpg's then there is a limited amount of editing that can be done to them in the Materials Editor(Diffusion, Ambiance,Bump Height, etc.) I hope I've understood your question correctly, if not please clarify.
